Guest Picks: Put Together a Posh Playroom
Create a fun and functional kids' space with well-designed storage, furniture and, of course, toys
My baby daughter is only 3 months old, but I'm already thinking about a playspace for her as she gets older and starts to crawl and walk. Playrooms can be a challenge — kiddie items can be, well, ugly, and trying to corral toys with functional furniture often destroys your home's aesthetic. But I believe a good-looking playroom is achievable with the right mix of storage pieces and whimsical accessories. Here are some of my favorite picks for good-looking, useful and, of course, fun pieces for your family's playspace. — Daniela from Aesthetic Oiseau
Melissa & Doug Wooden Project Workbench
Pretend play is my favorite kind, and my house would certainly encourage imaginative DIY projects!
Spanish ABC Blocks
Uncle Goose blocks have to be one of the coolest and best-looking toys out there. I particularly like the Spanish blocks for my bilingual household. These would also look dynamite on display on a bookshelf when not in use.
Young House Love Farmhouse Pendant
This pendant comes in an array of juicy colors. A set of two or three hung in a row would look great in a large playroom.
Verner Kids Panton-Style Blue Chair
Who doesn't love baby versions of iconic adult furniture? The classic S chair is perfect for a fun space for little ones.
Badger Basket Shelf Storage Cubby With Three Baskets, White
I love this storage unit from Badger Baskets for its white finish and a top that could also serve as a bench. It could also be stacked on or under another item.
Cradle Alphabet Beige Rug
This little rug has so many sweet colors and is perfect for a gender-neutral playspace.
Pink Phante Chair
These little elephant stools come in a variety of colors. A set of four would look darling around a small round table.
Badger Basket Three Basket Set, White
Every playroom needs lots of storage, and I am always one to opt for baskets. They look great, hide a multitude of objects in an organized fashion and are portable.
Flower Drum Shade Ceiling Light
This ceiling fixture is so good looking! I would honestly put it anywhere in the house, but the curvy shape gives it some whimsy for a kids' space.
Momeni Lil Mo Whimsy Grass Rug
I love these barnyard animals atop hills in various soft shades of green.
Sprout Kids Rocking Chair
The Sprout line has lots of cool kids' furniture, and this rocker is adorable. It's modern and sweet at the same time.
\Child's Folding Doll Furniture Set
I am a total sucker for doll furniture, and this set is foldable — meaning that you can tote it from place to place or conveniently store it in a small playspace.
Badger Basket Three Bin Storage Cubby, White
This storage unit makes for a great cubby area for toys — and it's stackable! I love using white storage units with lots of colorful toys.
Raffi Giraffe Rocker
I have my eye on this giraffe rocker for when my daughter can actually use it. I think the colors are sweet, and the softness is sure to appeal to little ones.
Crown Ceiling Light
This fixture is for the little princes and princesses in your life. The gold finish also brings some elegance to the room if that's the look you're going for.
Badger Basket Five-Basket Storage Unit With Wicker Baskets, Cherry
If white isn't for you, this basket storage piece is so handsome. I love that the top can serve as a display area for books, toys or family photo frames.
Rocker, Espresso Finish - $138.00
A traditional rocker is so lovely for children. Buy a pair and set them up with a big basket of books and stuffed animals between them. Don't forget some fluffy blankets so that your little ones can snuggle in with a good book.
Cradle Racetrack Green Rug
Your little ones will love to push toys along the roads of this rug.
