And I get to join in the fun!!! My fourth grandson was born Sept. 1. Aidan Christopher, 6 lbs. 10 oz., 19" long.

Congrats to socks12345 and sandy_in_ia on your beautiful new grandsons...and becoming grandmas! Lucky little boys!!!

Katlan, Fireman's wife left after some people here basically called her a liar. Some believed her story some didn't and were very rude to her about it. I don't know if the story was true or not but she had been here awhile before all that happened so I don't see any reason why she would have made it up. If I had been treated that way I would have left too. As a matter of fact I don't post here much or even read here like I used to because of some of the mean people who surfaced around that time. Fine if you don't believe what someone posts here but there is no need to be vicious about it. Just Scroll on by.

((((((Mary ann and Jammer)))))) And prayers to the One who loves us with a limitless, everlasting love, that things may go well with you and that complete healing may be forthcoming. During a recent discussion on the causes of a someone's enjoying good health, someone suggested that good genes help a lot. Someone else said that a positive attitude, feeling at home in this precious world that God has given us was very important. And someone else said that taking care of one's body, mind and spirit were very important components, as well. It appears that you've done well on most of those counts, so far. Hi everyone. Thanks again so much for all your comments. I really appreciate it. Today I met with my GC to review the numbers again in more detail. I definitely decided against doing the big remodel. (as others could have predicted, moving walls etc are not a good ROI--they are an expense). I may do some sort of kitchen or bath facelift or "botox" since there's no guarantee I'm moving right away. If my 2-3 years stretches to 5-7, it might be nice to have some updates. We'll see. FWIW, he told me two things I thought you might find interesting: 1) right now, the cost of materials is very high, and rising all the time, like month to month, due, in part, to all the natural disasters: hurricanes, the fires in Sonoma, CA and the mudslides south of Santa Barbara, etc. These people are without homes, (and rebuilding is largely being funded by insurance) so this demand is not going away until the houses are rebuilt. 2) he confirmed that even if the economy takes a downturn, labor rates are not likely to go down right away. My neighbor had guessed a year. My GC said after the 2008 recession, he still had plenty of work until 2011. He didn't feel it at all. This guy comes highly regarded, so my guess is that the good contractors will be the last to feel the pinch of a recession. For my project, if I do something small-ish, there doesn't seem to be any point in waiting a year or so to time the market. But as everyone here has said, if I may move in 2-3 years, the best option might be to do nothing or...try some decorating magic. Thanks again everyone! I feel so much better!

Congratulations!!! And I absolutely love the idea of a lot of highchairs around the kitchen table. The image in my mind brings a smile to my face.

And we were recently told that our only daughter, youngest of 4, is pregnant with her 1st! This, 80 minutes after we were told our only 4 GKs (aged 7-12) will be moving 1000 miles away in Dec. "When one door closes, another opens."

We had a great grandson born last Dec. and now this Dec. we are getting a great granddaughter from our second granddaughter. They are so much fun. We babysit for the little guy while his mommy goes to nursing school. He has just started walking. I use to babysit all four of our grandkids at once now it takes the two of us to keep up with this little one. Lol

I want to be a baby holder, too!

My boss had a baby boy this Spring. I snatch him up whenever I get the chance. Last time, I had to explain to him that if he was hungry, he would have to go back to Mommy- I may have the "parts" but they don't work THAT way! LOL

Congrats to all the new grandmas!!! I got my first *grandbaby* July the 15th.. Carson is my BF
daughter's new son , but we helped raise her and my DH had the father daughter dance at her wedding..so he is our grandbaby too.

re: my previous post. Yeah, it's bittersweet. We took a major financial hit almost 5 yrs. ago to relocate 900 miles to be near the 4 GKs who are now moving 1000 miles away. And it was worth all the sacrifice. They are terrific, fun kids. So, our knee-jerk reaction, for those 80 minutes, to them moving was for us to move back "home" (don't like this city.) And then DD told us they were pregnant and we're staying put (an hr.+ away.) I bought the future GK a present today!
