Everytime I see her and hear about her, I think of the one person that wreaked havoc on our family. This girl comes from a family of liars whose means of support are questionable. She's 2 years younger than DD, but they became roommates after DD's education. DD had been living alone and working and getting along just fine. Had money saved, owned her car, kept it maintained...doing just great.

Then, this girl needed a roommate, so DD gave up her apt. and they found one together. We weren't real happy about it, but you know how you give the children of questionable parents a chance.....

Within 6 months, DD wasn't getting her bank statements, didn't get her credit report that she'd sent for. We kept saying 'call the bank for your statement'. Oh, her tax refund was deposited electronically. She finally called the bank and was shocked at the small amount of money in her account. Asked about her tax refund. They said it had been deposited, but she'd spent it!!!

Yep! Her roommate had been opening DD's mail, had the credit report, had a couple of books of checks that she'd got from DD's dresser drawer (the last two books so it wasn't going to be so evident that they were missing).

So, without going into further lenghty detail, I just want to say that I was, and still am, amazed at the stories this girl could tell. She absolutely seemed to have no idea of the truth and was exceptionally skilled at avoidance. I could go on about the "college classes" she was supposedly taking and the "part-time jobs" that she supposedly had. None were true.

So, have any of you known anyone like this?
