Which KT'ers have you met? Kathy wants to know!

As Kathy and I were talking this evening, she wanted to know how many, and which, KT'ers I had met. I was her first. Well, when I finally sat down and wrote out a list, I was way off from what I was guestamating when I answered her! If I have my list correct, Kathy is number 33. I started with the group that Heather ON had at Niagra Falls several years ago. Anyone that was there correct me if I am wrong. Those that were at Sandy and Deans a couple of years ago, same goes. My memory is terrible!

my goals were/are \- this is working for me so far as I can tell, but everything's very new. ~~~ go with a cottage rose garden loose romantic style, while using plants that do well in my climate. \- I found plants that I like that are romantic but drought\-tolerant, so I think as I get better at gardening and the garden matures, that this goal will be reached. ~~~ chose plants that are mostly native or drought\-tolerant and if possible hummingbird friendly \- this has mostly worked out. I'm still doing the throw plants and see if they live method, but some things like agapanthus, penstemon and some other things have done really well and the hummingbirds love them. ~~~ herb pot area \- the basil has been a resounding success. I haven't actually used any of the other herbs, but I bought 2 more basil because we use it so much. The pots look cute by the back door, too. ~~~ have two seating areas, one as a rose arbor, the other, some type of simple bench under the sakura tree. \- I have the spot roughly laid out for the arbor, but I'm waiting on buying an arbor. Mostly due to me being scared to spend $200 on an arbor, which is rather silly considering the amount I spent on roses I don't really have room for. ;) \- I'm going to wait until the sakura tree gets bigger to put a bench near it, so... maybe 5 years or so. We'll see. ~~~ I want to have stuff that blooms year round. \- I'm so new I don't really know what plants I have will survive, so this will have to be something to ponder gradually. So far, I'm really loving the roses, nepeta, sakura and irises. We'll see how the other plants do. I could use more fall/winter flowers, but I'm still having problems with camellias. ~~~ eventually I'd like to have a pergola off the back of the house. ~~~ sometime soon\-ish, I want to have some stepping stones from the driveway into the back sideyard,... and have a mostly older HT bed there. (front yard) I think I can do this pretty soon. But I have to get the irrigation in first. I've already bought the HTs which will come this fall and next spring and sit in the pot ghetto till I'm satisfied. ~~~ My next main goal is just to evaluate the roses I have and try to learn better about how to water properly and not kill things. My crepe myrtle looks a bit upset and I think I killed one of my sansaquas... my almost dead camellia in the front is recovering, though. ~~~ gradually trying to improve my heavy clay soil

As a 9 year old kid in Elk City, OK in 1950, I met Tim Holt, Fuzzy Knight & Randolph Scott who were some of my favorite cowboy movie stars that made personal appearances at a local movie theatre. And, during our town's 50th. anniversary in 1951 I met & shook hands with Jess Willard who had been the Heavyweight Boxing Champion of the World, 1915-1919. He lived in my hometown during the early days & helped lay the bricks that paved Broadway St. and are still there and "in use" now in 2006! Moving ahead several years and after I had moved to PA...my wife & I saw Richard M. Nixon as he arrived by helicopter and dined at the then-famous Bookbinder's Restaurant in Philadelphia one evening while we were eating dinner there also. Then later, during the mid-1970's, we saw "The Duke" John Wayne in New York City getting out of his limousine and greeting the gathering crowd at Rockefeller Center. Guess that's about it... LarryD

Probably too late to do any good, but, despite their nice design, be a little cautious about Signature Hardware faucets. Researchers at StarCraft Faucet Reviews have been unable to find the certificate of compliance with ASCME A112.18.1 that makes the faucets legal for use in the U.S. and Canada, and SH has been asked for, but has not provided certificate numbers. We have reluctantly come to the conclusion that the Chinese-made line of faucets sold by Signature Hardware has not been certified use in North America. So, we don't recommend you buy a Signature Hardware faucet at this time.

I've met Jodi in So calif a few years ago when I was Louise in No Cal.

I met Carol in California when I was on a road trip down Central CA a year ago or so.

A couple of years ago, I had lunch with wildchild, sable ca, aptosca, and fairegold.

Aptosca and I had lunch again a few months ago.

That's it, I think!

Over all the years I have been at the KT I have met so many that it would take over an hour to write them all down. I know it is in the hundreds and that is no lie. The first KTer I ever met was Glenda way back when Bobby was 5 and he is now 16. I have also had quite a few KTer's come visit at our house and I have stayed in many of their homes also. I have been to at least 6 get togethers and have done 2 Texas Tours.

KTer's are the best people in the world. When you meet it is like being with someone that you have known forever.

Iva Mae who lives in London - we attend the same church, so meet frequently
Pooh Bear during a trip to NC and GA
Dances in Gardens, Cherry fizz and Monica PA and partner during a gathering at Dances (and who else was there?)
Nicole, Claude and Sophie and Susan on, wasn't it? on a trip to Stratford with Iva Mae ... and again in London
Caroline and Wes and Danielle in AB and Jason (but not their kids who were in bed at past midnight) during a trip to Mom's family reunion at my brother's farm in Saskatchewan last year

Varied people, but all really friendly and interesting: a joy to have met.

Alisande- Last summer we got together for lunch when we realized that my vacation house is about an hour from her home.

Alisande- This summer we met again for lunch -that's where she had that awful chicken skin salad.

Tami and Susan last summer are the only KTers I have been privileged to meet. I have a mental list of many more I want to meet one day... one in particular is Glenda- she just seems like the bestest person to meet. And of course, I really want to introduce Stewie to Flamingo in person!

YES! Tami_ohio and her lovely daughter at a nice restaurant in Oberlin OH. My sister, renie50, invited me to go along and it was a very nice visit...are you still crocheting, Tami, or do you wait until cooler weather for that past-time?

I also know mickey15 and her mother (don't know her user name on here; however!) mickey is my daughter-in-law!

First person I met was Nita, her DH, Bobby and then Nita's daughter, when they were in my area.

That same week, Donna OH and her sister Marilyn came for a couple nites visit with me.

Been to Iowa get-together, and Buzzard's, and met all those wonderful folks.

Elaine from NJ stayed with me for a get-together here, in B'ham at Lana's, LKgrace. Met TADPOLE, country bumpkin, gabby, buzzard, nita, and for the life of me, the wonderful kt'er that used to post here from South Alabama. Someone help me please.

Then that same summer, Janice and DAVE came thru town, and visited with me at my apartment.Janice raided my pantry and made boxed mac and cheese with KETCHUP on it. Dave and I had a beer.

Lunch every once in a while with Lindyluwho, from GA.
Met Miscsippy and Anna, last summer at Irondale Cafe, and then again in MS last summer.

Vacationed with LKgrace, gabby and a previous KT'er in Fla few summer back.

And then the wonderful gal, can't remember her name, from TN that had a stroke several years ago. She was a love.

I have to add another one! And apologize! DH & I met Pattico and Denny last year on our way to Utah. Kathyg, that makes you 34 as of right now.

This is probably the last time I'll be on line for a few days again, at least. We are moving farther north in MI, and it will be awhile before we are at a campground with internet again.

ivamae, thanks so much for posting the picture! I read so many Ole Joyful posts it is nice to put a face with the posts from now on. And good to see that he's not wearing overalls that are disintegrating and tightie whities falling down!!!!

I'm fairly new to the forum, so haven't met anyone. OJ would be my first choice, tho! And Dotmom....I'd also like to be her friend.

Nita, forgot that Sunnyone used to post here. I knew her for years before she joined us at the KT. I wish she'd come back.

There was one more CA gal, whose name escapes me. She was young, had a big Chow mix named Bear and came to the Bakersfield gathering. The one where I ate pickled cow's tongue on a dare. Anyone remember her name?

Shoot, another one I missed, I'm sorry Janene/Petaloid. That's what I get for trying to remember anything so late at night.

Petaloid's folks are real travel veterans who have been to Antarctica some three times I believe. I love to hear them talk about their travels.

I met everybody at Buzzy's Bash in 2004, then I went to see Flamey & Woody
Went to Prior and met up with Moni and Stacy - we went shopping ;O)
Met up with Moni and her DH on a bike ride in Marietta (they were on the ride not me hehehehe)
Then Moni came to me and we had lunch at Chilies ;o)

I don't think I forgot anybody, please forgive me if I did.

The first two KTer's I met were Pat Lavender and FranCes....and my sister embarrassed me. She insisted on going with me in case one of them was an axe murderer.
But now I know Wildchild is really the axe murderer. The only reason I have survived our visits is because I take her to Jocko's for steak.
I remember going to a get together at Joni's in Ventura long ago and then a couple of them in Bakersfield I have pictures from a Tehachapi trip.
I got rescued by Flamingo from a shopping mall in Branson...I think it was Branson.
It is really great meeting KTers and hope anyone who travels on the central coast of California will contact me.

I hope Tami and Merl are having a great time in the U.P., when they come back down they will be "trolls" like the rest of us. For those who don't understand, The Mackinac Bridge is where the "trolls" live under in the Lower Peninsula!

We are in Sault Ste. Marie. Last morning here. It's drizzling. We are heading west today. Whitefish point and beyond! I haven't remembered anyone else, so my list should be complete. I will miss seeing everyone at Sandy's next June. We have an anniversary to go to in MI.

Nola Ann, Yes, I am still knitting/crocheting. I have six projects due for the fair the day we get back! I haven't got any of them finished either!

Good grief some of these lists are long. I can't even remember all who I talked to yesterday so you all have good memories.

Haven't met anyone yet but I always wonder if I pass any KTers in my travels. Didn't we use to have t-shirts?
