Hubbie here... I'm picking up about 25 gallons per week from two restaurants, two skating rinks, and one cafe. So, about ten weeks for 250 gallons. It's enough to meet our heating needs and run the International Harvester (diesel tractor). Yes, it really does smell like french fries when it runs (Heatheron40 says it's like a carnival.) So... do I now have to stop at all the Starbucks and grocery stores for UCG and rotten vegetables? Or are all the pine tags and chicken poop enough?? **Fun biodiesel fact: Burning biodiesel adds no net CO2 to the air...unlike fossil fuels. With bio, the carbon released by burning it was absorbed by the oilseed crops last year to make it. A one-year carbon cycle!

Mountainy_man, I don't think that Irish Spring soap has carbolic acid in it. It is a strong smelling deodorant soap. I have even heard of people putting it in their dresser drawers to give their clothes a nice smell. The listed ingredients are: Fragrance(s)/perfume(s) Glycerin Stearic acid 2,6-Di-t-butyl-p-cresol (BHT) Pentasodium pentetate FD&C Green #3 D&C Green #8 (C.I. 59040) Sodium chloride Water Sodium tallowate Titanium dioxide Coconut fatty acids Sodium cocoate Sodium palm kernelate Palm kernel acid Steve, sounds like your sister needs to get another dog!

sameboat, When using those molds for CP, after 2 or 3 days, try putting the molds (with the soap in it) into the freezer for 20 minutes, they might come out a little easier for ya. When I started making soap, I used to use a lot of different containers for a mold, but I did use drawer organizers for my molds, that was a huge pain! One recipe I never did get the soap out successfully! lol! I use a triple beam scale for weighing my fats and oils, it'll measure down to the .1 of a gram, but I find that I only require to measure down to the single gram. I always have a drink coaster on the scale plate, so the containers won't slip while measuring. When I tare the scale this coaster is included. I measure my scent by the fluid ounce though. Have fun!

Hi there, I tried a great quality castile melt and pour recipe based on this one below (from an above comment) here with my substitutes in parentheses and what I had on hand. I want to sell these but my concern is this little oil is not enough to carry a scent in the soap. I did a lavender mint mix, a lavender only and a mint only and plain but could hardly smell a thing. The one without scent was teh same as teh ones with the drops. Usually for a human soap bar you woudl add about 2ml of lavender for example in 4 oz M & P soap, but assuming that is way to much for a dog so I do not want to increase that and have it be unsafe for the dogs as I know they process it differently then humans. Any advice? If I am labeling these with a scent customers will say I don't smell anything...thanks for any tips or what to say or label?
