glycerine in compost????

I am a novice!

I've been reading back threads and am very excited about restarting my compost "tower" (piles remind me of hemmoroids!)- hot piles just seem painful ;)

Anyway, my hubbie converts used cooking oil into bio-diesel. We then heat the house with it through the cold season.....the waste product is glycerine- can I add that to the compost? It would be basically corn sugars (some of the bio-diesel guys feed it to their cattle)???

Many of you seem to have a wonderful chemistry background, I took the "Bleeding Heart Liberal -BA in art as an art major- mural painter road" therefore I do not have a clue as to whether or not these are the right microbial sugars. Hmm...

Any help would be appreciated. We also have chickens *manure*, a pine tree farm *tags* and plenty of grass clippings.

Thanks!

Heather
