hhahahaha, oh no!

Oh, dear! Did you know what it was when you did it? I once sucked a bat into the vacuum (on purpose). Then I took the bag out (this was in the days before bagless machines) and put it on the porch so we could watch (through the window) the bat climb out. Wish I'd taken a picture!

also hope your dog never decides to chew up a stink bug! My little one did and immediately started foaming at the mouth and rubbing her face on the carpet, I had no idea what she had done but as soon as I picked her up I knew, she reaked! I flushed her mouth out with lots of water and dipped my finger in mouth wash and dabbed it in her mouth, she was very thankful LOL
I did immediately google it to see if they were dangerous but nope and when I called the vet she laughed and said her dog loves them and eats them like treats, ICK. I said well I do not think mine will ever make that mistake again.

Knock wood, we have them around but have never experienced the reason for their name!

Ravencajun...poor pupster!!

We must not have them here. I've never even heard of them.

According to this article, they are mostly located in Pennsylvania and have only been around in recent years.

In California there is a black beetle that we also referred to as a stinkbug for obvious reasons. Those have been around forever, well at least since the 40s that I know of :-) You didn't dare step on one or try to sweep it away, trust me!!

OHHH laws...that poor woman almost ate one! ICK...well I haven't seen one in GA yet...but that doesn't mean their not here...can't be any worse then roaches, pine beetles, snakes, ghekkos or bats! Actually I like the bats...they help with the mosquito population or so I've been told!

I haven't seen any yet, but I heard on the news they have got as far north as New York. We also have another new insect, the No See Um.

there have been stink bugs everywhere I have lived unfortunately. Some are really big and ugly and look like some kind of alien! some are small and green. Where I grew up in Louisiana we always had them guess they liked living in the rice and soybean fields.

this article said in 2010 they were in 33 states and spreading fast

just google stink bugs and click on the image tag at the very top and you can see the many varied types of the pest.
I can not even imagine biting down on one, gives me the shivers just thinking of it.

I hate, hate, hate, stink bugs! They rank right up there with snakes.....
One of our inside cats seems to have a "nose" for finding them....She can be sound asleep and sense they're around and do her pointing....I wish they'd all go back to Asia or where ever they came from.....

The "stink bugs" we have out here are the black beetle ones that do a headstand when disturbed and squirt a vile smelling spray, the dogs won't have anything to do with them, nor will the chickens. We have lots of other bugs, big, small, green, brown, like the ones shown in the pics. I call them shield bugs because of their shape. Bit down on a green one in my freshly harvested broccoli once, haven't grown broccoli since. Nasty!!

And yes it was deliberate that I got it with the vacumm, it was trying to escape behind the bookcase. Didn't realize it would go off when it hit the spin brush. Now I know, lesson learned.

"Some people can learn from other people's mistakes. Most of us are the other people."

The stink bug that is making all the news lately is the Brown Marmorated Stinkbug, one of many, many species of these pesky insects.

Before this one was introduced to the US, and began turning up everywhere, stink bugs were pretty much a minor garden pest and rarely a household problem. The fact that the BM species likes to find its way into homes is pretty darned unappealing,

Stinkbugs as a group, by the way, are universal.

Some years ago, I experimented with a green stinkbug by tossing it into the big web of a golden silk spider. I'd fed this spider lots of times with crickets and grasshoppers. The spider scrambled down to the stinkbug, then rapidly proceeded to cut the web away so that the stinkbug could escape! A spider wouldn't even eat the darned thing!
