More Surgery

If you've followed my story, my kidneys failed in 2007, I was on dialysis four and a half years, got a (yippee) successful transplant this January, then I had to get the fistula (vein in my left arm used for dialysis) reversed, tied off, or "ligated". I had the surgery June 21 but it wasn't successful. My arm remains badly swollen, numb and with only partial use of my left hand. I went back to the surgeon, he said the fistula is now full of blood clots, which have to come out. He said I could try waiting it out and the blood clots may be absorbed, but he's certain he can help by going in again and taking out the clots. I'm just waiting to have him schedule the hospital trip, which will be one-day surgery (no overnight). Wish me luck and say a prayer this will be my last operation. I am so tired of doctors hospitals! Oh, and Friday I go back to my kidney doctor for a re-check.

This must be tiring, but hope that this surgery will do the trick. Also, great good wishes to you on the re-check.

Jannie, you've had enough of doctors and hospitals to last you a very long time! I hope this next procedure does the trick.

I've been praying for Bradley, his family and his medical team ... his whole situation is so very sad. This poor little guy has just been through hell and he's never really gotten the chance to just be a little boy! His family seems to have a strong faith, this is so necessary to copy with the unfairness of life.

Thanks so much for all the Love! Hugs to all! I needed that! I have vein (artery problems) don't know exactly which. LOL. They kept taking out or stripping out something in my leg because of varicose veins. I have and had really bad varicose veins and had them Dr. stripped them??? been so long ago I can't recall what he called it. Anyways, that was pretty good, and then I was riding on my horse and I fell off pretty good. I got hurt and DH got me in the back of truck and helped me in the house. I begged him not to take me to the hospital.(I have had tooo many hospital stays in my life, LOL) So I lay on the couch for around a week was down in my back. I had a portatoliet so I just got up for that. I just hurt. I developed what they call a thrombopheltis (sp) Anyways, it is a clot in the deep veins of your legs. Then I developed phlebitis. They did surgery on my leg, as I had injured the veins in my leg and did not realize it as my back was hurting more. Actually my back is o.k. now. My leg is what is giving me fits. Also I have inherited vein and artery problems anyway. Do not ask me the name of that. LOL But, everything will come out in the wash...LOL! I am doing fine!

You poor thing! I was hoping you had had your last surgery. Let us know when it will be, and I will certainly send up prayers for a successful surgery. Hugs!

Has anyone heard from Bulldinkie? I haven't seen her on the cooking forum in awhile either. I remember when she quit posting here. Hope she is ok.

Good luck, Jannie. I hope the doc gets it right this time, since he obviously didn't the first time.

Oh Jannie, this is so frustrating to hear, so I can't imagine how you are feeling. I remember you posting about the swelling and how you thought it should be going down quicker than it was.

We're all here, and in the surgery with you.

Thanks for all the good wishes! Today (July 13) is the sixth month anniversary of my kidney transplant. Both were Friday the Thirteenth. My arm surgery is scheduled for next Thursday, July 19.

Sorry to hear that the problems continue, Jannie.

When I gor blood clots in the lung(s) ...

... they put me on rat poison ...

... and after most of a year, when they did another scan, the clots were both?/all gone.

(Still on rat poison - looks like it'll be so for life ... but I don't feel in any way like a rat).

know the dr will be successful and you have full use back in no time...i guess i've been accustom of being the human pin cushion, every 3 months...at least we don't have to strip right?? lol...how's everything else? diet, meds?

Geez, sorry they have to go back and work on your arm again. I hope this is the last surgery you have to go through. Keeping you in my prayers and thoughts.
