Update on my Sister

Annette is still running a slight fever as of this afternoon. About 101Â°. There is infection somewhere.

They are keeping her sedated, as she gets anxious, and restless. So, until they can remove the ventilator, it'll stay this way. If you say her name, she can/will open her eyes, but doesn't really focus, or follow commands like 'squeeze my fingers'.

Today they were talking about maybe more surgery, to clean out the infection. Meaning to re-open the incision from Friday's surgery. But before we left, one of the doctors said they're treating her with 3 antibiotics, and hopefully won't have to do surgery.

Thank you for all your prayers, and concern. Please continue to pray for Annette and her family.

Thanks so much for the update. It sounds as though she is doing well. Bless her heart, she has been through so much.
I think of you and her often, and am glad that you keep us in touch with your sister.
Tell her that she has a whole kitchen table full of good thoughts and prayers for a fast recovery.
If we can send cards, I would love to. She needs to know the power of unknown friends pulling for her.

One this particular five cuttings I had actually dipped them in rooting powder right after I had cut them. Not sure if that helped or not dipping in powder so soon. I then let it callous over for about four or five days, stuck it in moist cactus/perlite mix and stuck it on the back patio in a fairly shaded spot. I think the heat from sun beating down on the concrete for about 4 hours a day helped keep the pot warm at night where it was sitting even though our nights are generally pretty warm in Houston. Think positive, everything is going to go smoothly and your sister will have a short recovery time. Times like this bring us up short , makes us truly grateful for those we have close to us in our lives, all the other stuff doesn't matter. I'll be keeping you and your sister in my thoughts. If you have sibling issues, deal through the attorney. Siblings won't like it, but it'll CYA. I found that out with my dad's estate. Keep in mind the lawyer does *not* represent the estate nor does the lawyer represent the heirs. The lawyer represents the executor(s)/personal representative(s) only so that's whose interests they'll have at heart. Also it saves a lot on postage costs by faxing the stuff to the attorney. They'll almost always send an acknowledgement and then can't claim they never got it like siblings often do. I also put an affidavit of faxing on the bottom of the cover page in case they say I didn't send it. Fill in date, time such and can have it notarized if and when needed otherwise, no extra effort required.

Sounds like she has a autoimmune problem. As bad as she is I am surprised they wouldn't consider giving her anti-rejection drugs (Immunosuppressive drugs) like they give people who get donated organs or who have severe autoimmune disease. Sending good thought and prayers her way.
