Update on my sister

First of all thanks to all who send out prayers and good thoughts,they are very much appreciated.

My sister is still in ICU and still getting heparin treatments to dissolve the blood clot~~~~~~~BUT the dr's can't figure out why her kidneys decided to shut down.She has NEVER had a problem with her kidneys before,nor is she diabetic,or even borderline.Many dr's have been in to see her and many tests have been run.They told her today that she is a real Challenge for them,and they won't stop til they figure it out.

They are prepping her just in case they have to do dialysis,yet hoping it won't come to that.

I'm 3000 mles away,but i know what she has been going thru,and it seems to me that none of these problems started until she had 3 of her 4 parathyroid glands removed,and she's been sick ever since.Of course that is JMO.

I sent my other sisters a link to what i read about the parathyroid glands,and she shared it with Eileen and told her to ask the dr's about it,to see if there is any connection!! My other sisters told me today she looks good,compared to how she looked before she went into the hospital.

So i guess all we can do now is continue to pray for her,and her team of dr's and nurses that they find the cause and can fix it.

How difficult for you to be so far away...of course Prayers still being sent out for her, you and the whole family.

Sounds like she has really good doctors. I do hope they come up with some answers very quickly. It is hard when we live so far from family but your sister knows that you are there in spirit and maybe even shed some light on her problem. Prayers going out for your sister and her team of doctors.

Sounds like she has a autoimmune problem. As bad as she is I am surprised they wouldn't consider giving her anti-rejection drugs (Immunosuppressive drugs) like they give people who get donated organs or who have severe autoimmune disease. Sending good thought and prayers her way.

I can totally understand why you are upset about his work. I would feel exactly the same. Ask the GC to come to your house for a meeting. Have another person there. Ask him about the waterproofing, and ask him to re-do the whole thing with a real trained pro. Don't pay until you are satisfied with a professional installation. I saw worsening dementia - and also acute onset confusion in elderly with no history of dementia - very often in my hospital patients; not just those who had had sedation or anesthesia either. As someone mentioned about, sometimes it improved toward their baseline (often very slowly), especially after returning home, sometimes it never did go away. My grandmother developed such issues every time her MD prescribed Lasix (furosemide). It cleared up quickly each time the drug was stopped. She was tried on the drug 3 times, same result each time - he MD finally stopped trying to give it to her, but I don't think he ever believed that it caused her confusion. When my mother had her series of small cerebellar strokes, she had sudden onset of dementia, urinary frequency and urgency (needing frequent runs to the toilet), and then finally developed unsteady gait. At first both I and her doctor thought it was UTI, but the gait issue finally pointed us in the right direction. The strokes only showed on her MRI, not on CT scans. I hope that your mother improves, and the difficulties with her spouse recede; I empathize with the strains and frustrations of being a caregiver for an elderly parent and wish you the best!

Thanks everyone.

Ruthie,i'm doing pretty good,thank you.Mostly just the usual aches and pains from the neuropathy,and the side effects of the meds,but i try not to let it get me down.

Just went for a stress test thursday,they wanted me to actually walk on the treadmill,which i didn't think i could do because of the knee problems,however i did it and the dr said i did good!! So that's another blessing!!He put me on Lisinopril an ace inhibitor.
When they did the muga scan b4 i had chemo they found my left valve was running a little slow,so the cardiologist has been keeping an eye on it.Other than that my heart is in good shape,he says.

And you Ruthie,how are you doing,i think of you often as well and several others that have been fighting these battles.
