My "early" garden was a bust, even with shadecloth on parts of it, though I may have waited too long before shading. I grew 4 kinds of corn, all supposed to be heat & drought tolerant & got nary an ear, but it bloomed. On the other hand, my fall garden did well & I managed to get at least some tomatoes. My winter garden is peculiar--lettuce & some greens bolting, broccoli making loose heads, etc. In January. Just enough cold weather for my cabbage to start heading finally. I have planted a couple of cool weather tomatoes in hopes they will survive, but the others stay in for now. Most of the black tomatoes will continue to produce in heat & a few others. I find myself freezing more now so I know I will have it. Last year was a sure cure for complacency!

"Tain't hot here - about 70! And there's talk of the temp going down to about 34 F. tonight - frost warning in effect. With all of that stuff rather small in my garden ... I don't like that story much. But feeling less guilty about having been rather late in planting some of the seeds - meaning that the sprouts haven't yet stuck their noses above ground. ole joyful

it's always like a heat wave in orlando LOL but that's our normal :-) going to mid 90's today, humidity near 99% (as usual). last summer we set a heat record, 110 days straight at 90 or above then last winter set record cold with both lowest temps ever recorded and longest length of time at record cold. i was sure we were in for a record summer after a hot spring but it's been pretty normal thou a bit dry. norms right now are 94/77 for 2 more months then we trend down :-) the other evening i put a hygrometer from inside the house out on the lanai, it shot up to 99% humidity in a minute LOL brought it back inside after 15 minutes and it went down to 65% LOL that's dry for us :-) it had not even rained that day! ~ liz

West Coast of Canada and it is HOT (for us). It's 9:00 and still 24C or 80F and it's only going to get hotter over the next few days. We don't like it when it gets this hot because we don't do well when it's this hot and our houses aren't air conditioned.

At last....temps last night have fallen back to comfortable levels in 70's. After 2 scorching days of temps near 100...I say..countdown to fall has begun.

We are in 60's right now, but will be in the 70s but rainy (again). Tomorrow looks to be perfect with sunny skies and temps at 75.

It's 77 degrees out at 9 AM here in the mid west. 96 is the predicted high.

Here, current temp is 80 - high expected to be 87 -- a break from the high 90's of the past 2 days.
This means another afternoon at the swim club. Tan is coming along nicely and water is just perfect temp.

No tanning been done here, vegetables and flowers are struggling. I'm in the PNW - Canadian side and it is wetter and cooler than normal. Flooding is becoming a concern but forest fires are not. I think our forest-fire fighters are in Colorado right now and before that they were in northern Ontario.

at 7pm Saturday, outside temp is 94 and no relief in sight.

Sounds like it's gonna be a long hot summer.

I remember living with temperatures like that, Glenda, in the Illinois river valley where I grew up. That is why I like our "coastal" southern California weather. Our nights are cool, and that means good sleeping weather.
