SO warm already this morning at 8:45am. I was sweating when I woke up this morning. Today is the town homecoming parade which Mom and I always attend - maybe not this year.

Last night I did a dumb thing. The band I used to play with was playing for a square and New England contra dance at the homecoming - in 93degree weather. Well, by 8pm, it had cooled to like 87? Felt that way on the dance floor,which was a cement slab of all things! The callers couldn't get anyone up to dance so the same eight of us danced for a little over an hour.

My hair was soaked, my shirt was soaked and of course whenever we stopped we got super hot, so I left finally. To top it off, I had to walk back up to Mom's to get my car which is uphill(!)on asphalt. I thought my legs were going to give out. That air conditioned car FELT LIKE HEAVEN. And when I got home, I stripped asap. Here I saw that even my capris were soaked!

Had a terrible time sleeping, even with two fans blowing on me. Not to mention my lower back and leg ached from "sa-shaying" (sp?) across the floor at the dance the night before.

It is stinky hot here in Central Indiana, too. Yesterday and again ( so far) today we do have a nice breeze. My poor hubby is down in Southern Indiana trying to get a barn built and it has been unbearable for him. A friend was coming over at 7 this morning and they were starting to dig the post holes. I talked to him last night and he said they work for about an hour and are soaked with sweat. They go in and try to cool down.

I heard on a weather channel the other day this is suppose to last through the Fall. I sure hope not.

Currently 57 here, chilly. On a weekday I'd go running and sweat to death under the high humidity, it rains every afternoon.....but we're headed to the mountains....where it will stay cool and I'll wear pants to keep the mosquitos off me. I LOVE Colorado weather!

Well we're in upstate PA for the weekend, not too far from Scranton and it's going to be disgustingly hot and humid. My son is moving today and it's going to be 99 where he lives. The thunderstorms last night were fierce and I noticed this morning that the heavy rain broke several of my lilies in two. I don't have too many flowers up here since we're only part time but the storm flattened my Stargazers. I cut them off and brought them inside so at least I can enjoy their wonderful aroma.

I just watched a video from one of the local news stations . . . a tornado hit 15 miles from here yesterday, flattening four buildings, ripping a swing set out of a concrete slab and twisting it, and pulling huge trees out of the ground. This is not normally tornado country! Fortunately, the buildings were a business that was closed when it happened (6:00 p.m.). Scary stuff.

Miserable here in wv. go to bed hot, wake up hot. We have a/c in the bedroom window, and that's it. By the end of the day, it's hot inside. I hate it!

We had really bad storms earlier in the week. I was ten minutes late to work because of it. Pounding rain, almost pulled over, kept hydroplaning. Lights in the city weren't working.

Today it's hot and humid, heat index supposed to be 100.

I was hoping Tropical Storm Bonnie would bring in some cool weather. It was 75 when I woke up at 7:00 am. Wish it would stay there. Now it's 80 and not a breeze stirring. I'm sure it want be long before we hit the 90's. Humid, Humid, Humid.

Hot here too, but Florida is supposed to be hot in the summer. With the heat index it will feel like 107 today according to the ding-a-ling local news channel.

That tropical storm/depression or whatever it is now, didn't give us one drop of rain. BOO! We really could use a good one.

Our weather isn't much different about 2 hours south of you. We had a storm while we were shopping in Wal-Mart last night but it didn't help cool things off much. I was out yard saling with the boys this morning and it was okay for a while but then, BAM!, it was suddenly too hot to continue. I bought a snow cone maker so I should get to the store and get the stuff I need to make them before it gets even hotter.

It's been so dry that we got an automated phone call from our city Wednesday telling people not to use their sprinkler systems. We'd SEEN rain clouds for weeks, but gotten not a drop.

Thursday night we got an inch of rain in a few hours, along with blinding lightning and wind. (Milwaukee had almost nine inches.) Around midnight last night we had a repeat performance, only longer and harder. I was up with a sinus problem and saw it pour until near dawn; tapering off to light rain by nine a.m.

At least we haven't lost power. The sump is working like crazy in the basement, and we're cool in the A/C.

IMO this is the summer from hell. I am not a kid, and I don't remember anything remotely resembling this. I can't take it. I walked my dogs after midnight last night and even then it was 88. It's 95 now before noon. It saps everything out of me and I won't go outside except to water. We need rain and everything looks awful except container plants which get a lot of water from me. I love winter and always have and can't wait. I hope it's a long cold one... with lots of snow. I can always layer, but I can't take off anymore clothes.

My stepdad says that yes, summers were hot when he was a kid (he's 82); but never this many days in a row that he can remember.

I'm in Long Island. Last night we had thunderstorms so bad the Yankees (playing in the Bronx, about 50 miles north of me)) had a one hour 25 minute rain delay.My dog is terrified of thunder, she just shook and panted and wouldn't leave my side. When I got up at 5 am, it was so humid out, but only 75 degrees. By noon it was 93, headed for 98 today and 103 tomorrow (Sunday). We have a local ban on lawn watering and car washing. Okay with me, my grass is all brown already.

Its 102 degrees here now and its 5:23pm edt. Its gotten hotter as the day has gone by.

Here in southern Ohio, our heat index is 104 degrees. I agree with others that this is one of the longest, hottest stretches we've ever had. They keep saying "rain" and then nothing happens. Everything is crunchy and it's just too hot to go out. I feel bad making the dogs go out, but they gotta do it. And we have the humidity to deal with as well. But I am thankful that we haven't had any bad storms.

It was 101 at the bank sign and our car thermometer an hour ago when I left the gym. Another midnight walk with the dogs. I pity them, they want to go out but it's not healthy.

I almost feel guilty telling you that it's 77 here in No. Cal. at 4:40 p.m. We've had an unusually chilly summer so far, with just a few hot (85+) days so far. And no humidity to contend with. I'm sure I'd be wilting in the weather so many of you are describing. But in the blink of an eye that could all change--we never know!

It was 87º here at 9:00 p.m. I don't know what it is now. Probably 99º.........

It was 91 at 11:00 leaving Barnes &Noble. Car and bank said the same thing. I walked the dogs when I got home and at the end actually felt dizzy and thought that this was a stupid idea. I could have fainted on the walk and laid on the sidewalk till morning since this town goes to bed early and so did my husband. I had to refresh myself with two dishes of caramel praline icecream.

Susan I was thinking the same thing - either banish them or join them. I would love to live where the summers aren't so hot and humid and their weather sounded just perfect. This summer has been disgusting. So many of my plants have been struggling but the crab grass is thrilled. I get up round 6 when my DH leaves for work and after my morning cup of coffee I head outside to work in the garden. But I barely last an hour or so. I tried it at night but there are too many mosquitoes. It drives me crazy to stay inside this much but I've been enjoying the air conditioning.

Happy to report the heat has broken here. It's a pleasant 68ú as I write this.

it's always like a heat wave in orlando LOL but that's our normal :-) going to mid 90's today, humidity near 99% (as usual). last summer we set a heat record, 110 days straight at 90 or above then last winter set record cold with both lowest temps ever recorded and longest length of time at record cold. i was sure we were in for a record summer after a hot spring but it's been pretty normal thou a bit dry. norms right now are 94/77 for 2 more months then we trend down :-)

the other evening i put a hygrometer from inside the house out on the lanai, it shot up to 99% humidity in a minute LOL brought it back inside after 15 minutes and it went down to 65% LOL that's dry for us :-) it had not even rained that day! ~ liz

After reading many of your posts here, I am feeling lucky to live in the desert !
We had a nice June, mid 90's and very little humidity, this month has been much hotter, but still not near as bad as what many of you are experiencing !
