I Had an Unexpected Surprise Yesterday AM

Every morning around here starts the exact same way. I get up, pour water in the coffeemaker, open a can of food for CeCe and put his breakfast in a saucer. Abby waits and watches until he walks off..then she "washes his dish"! For the past week or so, she's been hopping into the clothes basket and sleeping. I assumed it was because the damp towels felt cool to her. So, yesterday morning, she washes CeCe's dish, then hops over in the basker. She starts rooting around trying to get all comfy...but can't seem to stay still. Jumps in the basket, out of the basket..and roots around. Her tail is kind of tucked under her. I check to see what the problem is...and OMG...she's HAVING A PUPPY!! I didn't have a clue she was pregnant. She'd come in heat several months ago and since it was her 2nd heat, I decided to let her have one litter of puppies then have her spayed. Well..she wanted absolutely nothing to do with Jasper! I laughed and told my (gay) neighbors that I thought Abby was gay! lol Matter of fact, after Abby came in heat..their dog came in heat, got pregnant and those puppies were 3wks old this past Sunday! I'm not sure when what happened happened..but this is the result!

After about 4hours and still no more puppies, I kind of got concerned, so we loaded up the new baby and Mommy and headed to the Vet! This little girl was it! lol

Jasper is full ShihTzu and Abby is ShihTzu/Maltese. Looks like the new baby is going to favor her Daddy!

Goodness!! 50??? I am having a hard time keeping up with the 18 I have, lol. (last 2 eggs hatched today) apparently, every single egg I found was also fertile, and they all seem to be thriving so far. I am so glad all of these eggs hatched at almost the same time, I think it will be easier since they will all be so close in age, and hopefully size. The other 8 cats I have, are at all different stages, and I have had to move/separate them so many times it is ridiculous, some of them seem to be bullies, lol. The largest one of the last bunch is now in a "habitat" by himself, because he would not stop picking on the smaller cats and taking their food, and they weren't that much smaller than him. I have one small one who bullies cats WAY larger than him, lol, I had to move him after I saw him slither up to one of the big cats and try to bite them, or at least that is what it looked like he was doing. I have figured out how to tell if I need to give them more food, they "wander" when they want new, or more leaves, or at least these do, because every time i have had one wander away from the food, if i put new food down, they come back. The largest one will start eating the leaves before I even set them down in his cage, lol, he bites them and starts tugging on them. I am hoping everything works out for all of them, and that they all keep eating and growing, so far so good though. And as far as the food situation, the lady who lives next door to my aunt, does have a safe host tree, yayy!! So I am going tomorrow to cut some more leaves for them, and my safe dwarf tree is getting new sprouts of leaves in several places, so they should be big enough to cut soon, so it all seems to be working out in their favor so far! I too am interested to see when these two that pupated decide to eclose. The 1st one pupated on sep 18, second one on sep 23, I was able to move them into the reptarium cage I bought without harming them or disturbing them, so I am not so worried about them eclosing when I am not home now that they are in the mesh cage. what have the temps been lately in your area? The high was 95 here today. Supposed to get cooler this weekend though. Was it you who said you had a GST chrysalis turn black before eclosing? I have been checking them for any signs of change, but they haven't changed one bit.

The crystal really does help bounce some wonderful light around the room, which it needs-- it's usually a bit dark in my diningroom. I had been thinking of Judith's marvelous pink and crystal Christmas table. It's such a delight! Mine is doing a bit of a crystal, green and gold thing at the moment... I had a horrible day with my computer as well!! I checked my emails and saw that all of them were dated 2010. All the 2011 emails were gone...I checked the "deleted" folder and nothing there either. I looked in the other folders..nothing. I checked C drive, program files, Outlook..nothing. After a couple of hours of this, I called my server tech. He said he'd check my account and see if they were still on the server...NO. He said I (or someone else) had to have deleted the emails, therefore putting them into the deleted folder. Then deleted them from the deleted folder, thus deleting them from the server..permanently. I absolutely did not do that!! DH said, "Well, maybe you did it and forgot." I can't even tell you my reply. :( I do delete the unnecessary emails as I read them. I flag the ones I need to save. I publish a monthly newsletter for our little city and have people who write some of the columns for me via emails. I try very hard to get the paper out by the end of the month with the details of activities for the following month. So as I was preparing to start the paper for January, my writers had emailed their articles. See? Now I'm rambling, of course. The episode ended about 4 p.m. with 2 Excedrins, coffee and a nap. Pulled the cover over my head and decided I'd surface next year. But, oh no, someone mentioned that Christmas had not come yet. Deep breath...I am now wrapping zillions of gifts, preparing bedrooms for DD and grands who will come home with us after Christmas & making cookies. Yep, all at one time. No stress...

Lydia....I'm trying to fight the temptation. Right now, I'm winning, but that little girl hasn't opened her eyes and starting playing yet! That WILL be my downfall!! lol

What a surprise!! That certainly doesn't happen every day!

Glad mom and babe are ok. It was a good idea to do the vet trip. I guess you didn't know because one puppu didn't cause much of an appearance of being pregnant.

Oh...a shih tzu puppy! My favorite! I loved my little shih tzu Spanky so much! Then, I wanted to save to get another shih tzu and we found our little Darla (she's a bichon/lhasa apso mix). I told dh that our next dog was going to be a shih tzu again...they are so stinkin' cute! Are you going to keep the puppy? If so, keep postin pictures, please, cuz I can't wait to see!

Well, I guess you know what you have to do CB!! You HAVE to keep the adorable little puppy.

Awwww...how cute are those proud parents..that baby will be a cutie for sure. Congrats to Abby, Jasper and Gran, too!

CB, with just one puppy, guess you might consider having that sweetie as part of the family??

Well, this little 6.3oz critter has already managed to throw the whole house of kilter! Abby is VERY attached to Andy! That relationship developed within a hour of when I brought her here in July of last year! So now, she has something else to be attached to and she's caught between her two loves. She wants to be with Andy..but wants to be with the puppy! The night after she had the puppy was so funny to watch! Andy would go in his room and Abby would stand at the door and whine, he'd open the door and she'd stay there about 5secs., then she'd start whining and run to the basket with the baby! This went on for a few minutes, but the problem was solved when Andy took the basket and puppy into his room! Abby was happy, content and quiet!

That is so adorable. What a wonderful surprise.
I have a Lhasa and a Shitzu and they are wonderful animals.
Both of your dogs are precious, and so pretty. This little girl is going to be a beauty.

They are all so cute. Do the Mom and Dad have good dispositions? If so, the kids should be fine. Hope they all get good furrever homes.

I'd say that puppy is YOURS! It is just so STINKIN' Cute!
Speaking of stinkin', my baby got sprayed by a skunk last Saturday morning (4:30 am potty break) Yea, she's stinkin' alright, even after 2 deskunking baths. Just keep your baby and give it some hugs and kisses for me. I just love puppys!
