I had a mastectomy yesterday

and I am home today. Surgeon said he was 99% sure all lymph nodes were clear, more extentive results coming this week. This is my third breast cancer surgery and the easiest. Just excited about the report and feeling so good after one night in the hospital.

Well to the 3 Linda's in my message I mentioned DH came home once he heard the message from me that I was having contractions. He drove 532 miles total yesterday. He got the message as they were eating lunch so he drove 265 miles for lunch and then came home. I felt so guilty that he was missing his trip with his brother but so thankful that he came home. I just got home again from the hospital a half an hour ago. I had been in contact with the Dr. all day because of severe tension headaches. Well they turned into a full blown migraine on the left side of my head, my vision turned blurry, bright sunlight was hurting my eyes and I felt nautious. I went into the clinic and Dr checked me out my blood pressure was 120/80 so wasn't the cause of the headache. Decided that since the tylenol 3 with codeine wasn't helping ( I am on that for yesterdays contractions) I needed a shot and they wanted me to have blood tests to see if there was anything wrong pregnancy wise. So DH left to take the girls to my sisters and bring Hayden home. He is a little monkey and is easy to take care of and entertains himself so will take it easy while they are gone and tomorrow until we have to go and get the girls. Lee and Ann - Thanks for the get well wishes. The nurse just put 2 strips of what looked like heavy duty packing tape on it. Gave me a couple of strips and said to change it if it came off. I think the stuff is going to be stuck there forever. It got a little dirty but can't change it, won't come off. Hope the doctor can get it off. Clare

Sue, I am so glad you are OK! I was at the doc yesterday and happened to be reading about signs of a heart attack. I never knew until yesterday that a jaw tightening up was a sign. So glad you went to the ER, too. Don't be afraid of 911! My dad died when I was 13 due to heart problems. In retrospect, I CANNOT believe nothing was really done for him. I remember walking home from the train w/him, and he would have to stop because of the pain in his chest. He was thin and had textbook perfect blood pressure. I remember him having some medicine (patches?) for angina, but that is about it. My dad may have survived IF someone would have called 911. He thought he had indigestion, and his co-workers called my house. My sis (15 then) answered and told them they should call 911. They drove him to the ER instead, and he died at the hospital. We never got to see him again. They apologized at the wake. Too little, too late. So relieved everyone else who has posted is OK, too. No one really talks about heart disease for women, and isn't it the most common cause of death among women? Trail, I had no idea you were a cardio RN. I will remember you rules!

For one thing I could never let the hair on my legs get that long! As I have gotten older I don't have to shave my legs as often as I once did but I can't stand it when it starts to rub the bed sheets.I have been known to get up at 2 in the morning and shave my legs because of it.LOL Waxing would just take too long in my opinion.The few times I have used hair removal products on my legs there were hairs left that I had to shave anyway.I can shave my legs a lot faster and with a lot less mess.I found a hair removal product from HSN that I have used on my face and arms.It is Serious Skin Care Liquid Laser.There is a formula that is for the face.I love this product.My face is sensitive to a lot of cosmetics but this works great with no irritation.It sounds a little pricey but it is well worth it.You can go to HSN and type in Serious Skin Care products and find it.

Thankful to hear the good news, Ron ... and you must have been worried, dealing with this for the third time.

third times the charm, right? great news on the nodes...

any follow up chemo? hated that part...didn't get sick but sitting still for long was a pita...

btw thanks for sharing...we so often forget that breast cancer isn't just a "girl" thing...
