Anyone ever heard this guy?

I just stumbled onto his music today while I was looking for a version of "Somewhere Over The rainbow" for Jillian because she loves to dance to it.I have been sitting here for over an hour listening to all the videos and even shedding some tears! LOL He is no longer alive and I don't even know how long he has been gone but his voice is just beautiful.From all accounts he was a very special person.Give it a listen and see what you think.

I'm the only person I know who doesn't like that version of the song. The problem is the messed up lyrics. I must be a lyric person.

I have his CD "Alone in IZ World" with that song on it. Love his voice. When we were in Hawaii in a music store I asked some locals to recommend some good Hawaiian music and that was one of the CD's recommended.

My NOID dischidia looks an awful lot like your plant. I was about to say they looked the same, but I took a second look at mine, and it doesn't seem to have that same curl to the leaf that yours has. Basically, the leaves on mine look succulent, like the ones on yours, but mine lay flat, like little paddles. Still, if you figure out what yours is, maybe it will help point me in a better direction, because at the moment, I have no clue where to begin with figuring out what mine is. You have a nice looking plant. And I'm jealous that your Target has a garden center.

Bob Walsh covers Mimi's egg-rooting method in his book on "How to grow plumeria-frangipani anytime anywhere", btw. Still miss the "Aloha Plumeria" forum though...and Mimi, too. I hope she's happy in her life, and stress-free. I'm currently rooting a bonus plumeria with an egg, and an Oahu Star cutting w/o one, -since I only had one egg available when potting them up. The bonus cutting is showing tip changes on it, already, but I can't consider this a fair test, as the Oahu Star cutting was considerably thicker than the mystery (gift) cutting was, when I rec'd them. To do a fair comparative test, I think I'd have to use 2 cuttings from the same source and root them the same way, (except for placing an egg under only one of them).

I believe I do know the book you mean. Skimmed this while standing up at Borders. This book advocates an approach that some Realtors practice in varying forms--the home goes on the market at a very enticing, "below market/low market" price. It is heavily advertised in a short period. It is common to state that no offers will be accepted until ______ (usually a week two from list date and with at least one open house being held. The concept is that this will smoke out ready, willing and able buyers put them into highly- competiive mode, and that the house will sell above the asking price and at an optimum level. I've seen it work, and I've seen it not work. This atmosphere of high competition, tight timeframe and win/lose status causes some buyers to stay away, wanting no part of "a bidding war." Would they have offered and what would they have offered in a non-pressure situation? Some of the buyers that are attracted at the low price don't really "get it" that it's a staged low price and bound to sell for higher, so they come in lower yet. I think of it as one tool in the tool box that's not without use but not necessarily a home run.

It is unfortunate that two brands are getting mixed up and nobody is clarifying that. All manufacturers use, China, cambodia, etc. LW Mountain has had a lot of issues when our company used them. LW Flooring which is an entirely different company has not given us any issues with their product. The one issue we did have was due to the utter disregard from the shipping company that we use. LW was quick to replace our mater that was damgeddamaged in shipping and sent us a few boxes extra just in case. LW Flooring has been a great company compared to LW Mountain.

I like the rendition of the song. That particular video is bad but the song is great.

I love it, but living in Hawaii we heard and saw him a lot and really appreciated his music. RIP IZ.

Last night "Glee" did a version of Mr. K's "Somewhere..."--just beautiful. I'm not a big fan of the song, but REALLY liked this one!

The first time I really recall hearing this was when Jason Castro did this on American Idol. I had probably heard bits and pieces before but never the whole song that I recall.

Plus I like when Iz does the rainbow/wonderful world medley. It really goes together well.

I love this version also and his voice. A dear friend's son got married in a lovely wooded setting and the bride walked down the path to this. Gives me goosebumps...

I'm with Liz, DH and I both fell in love with it. And we've heard it used at funerals, as soon as it starts, we both start crying.

I found his music when I was browsing some quilt blogs, and it was one of the songs - absolutely love it! I have his CD of "Facing Future" where his medley of "Somewhere Over the Rainbow/It's a Wonderful World" is included, and I've already left word that I want that played someday at my memorial service.

I love that version by Israel Kamakawiwo'ole and had forgotten about it. Thanks for bring it to the forefront again.

Andy Bell (Erasure) has a version of Over The Rainbow that I have always loved. It can be found on YouTube.

I'm not a fan of the song either. It's just been sung way too many times in recent years. I guess I'm just sick of it.
