Has anyone ever heard of....

I stopped at TarJ (supertarget) and of course had to go thru the garden area today. I cruised the hanging baskets and found what EA(groan)had delivered in a 4 in pot. This is what I found. It's labeled HOYA rope, but resembles a discidia. What do ya'll make of this.

My NOID dischidia looks an awful lot like your plant. I was about to say they looked the same, but I took a second look at mine, and it doesn't seem to have that same curl to the leaf that yours has. Basically, the leaves on mine look succulent, like the ones on yours, but mine lay flat, like little paddles. Still, if you figure out what yours is, maybe it will help point me in a better direction, because at the moment, I have no clue where to begin with figuring out what mine is. You have a nice looking plant. And I'm jealous that your Target has a garden center.

Mirendajean -- I rather expected that Homebase was something equivalent to a big box operation in the U.S. On these shores, I think some of our fly-by-night rose suppliers assign names based solely on color. If it's red, it's 'Crimson Glory'. Yellow? Well, that's 'Oldtimer'. And if it's white it's either JFK or 'Virgo', no doubt about it. Your rose is lovely, but to my eye those blooms bear no resemblance to the red flower pictured on the identity tag. I'm linking to another photo of LS that looks a bit more similar (at least color-wise) to the photo on your plant's ID tag. What do you think? Surgery is not an option because of the quantity of repair surgery that has already been done a long time ago. Pessaries have been tried, but up to this point nothing has helped. There is one more pessary that can be tried and after that he says there is nothing he can do. I will have another appointment with him in a couple of months, so just wondered if anyone had tried this as a last resort. ivamae

I want to thank you all for helping us out with this. We called our VA Rep that we have been working with for the last few months and she told us that she has Heard Nothing about them. But If something sounds as good as that then its better to leave it alone. My husband and I have never bought anything on Credit . My thoughts was the way my grandma told me to be . If you dont have the money for it Never use credit. (lol My grandma had a lg farm and everything was theirs . they had No payments on anything other then Normal house hold bills . So I lived by that . From New cars ect. I just saved Money and paid cash for everything. last yr my told my husband that I wanted my own home something that we can grow old in he said Ok. I started looking and found out that we would have to build our credit because we have never used it. We have No bad marks on our scores just dont have any. last time our Rep checked our scores where Now in the low 600's. They Need our scores to be at 650 or better. So Now we just keep working on it and stay where we are at till we get it going. thanks again all

I bought the exact same plant at Lowe's as a Hoya 'Rubra' hahahah . . . It's a Dischidia . . . either "geri" or oiantha. I still think it looks like a D. "geri", but either way . . . It's DEFINITELY a Dischidia. And this one grows FAST! :)

OH DUH! I've got that plant...got it in a trade with the correct name : oiantha but I thought it was a HOYA! I never thought to look it up. Yeah it grows fast and wants to wrap itself around anything close by.

LOL...yea DAHHHH is right. I told the clerk it was not a Hoya, but a dischidia. He was like I only work here.....lol. I explained that EA was notorious for mislabling the Hoya's. But I just had to share it with you guys and see what ya'll said as well as maybe a definate ID as to what type of Dischidia. Of course ya'll came thru with flying colors.Thanks again!

Someone at Hermann Engelmann greenhouses needs to put their glasses on and KEEP them on!!!

Do they ever get a plant labeled correctly coming out of that place???

It's either Dischidia geri or oiantha Schltr. They look a LOT alike, but until it blooms, you probably won't know which you have.

Quinn, yours with the flat leaves is probably plain oiantha. Both are aggressive growers.
