How about making a "smile" or "feel good" jar? Just take a pretty large glass/plastic jar or decorative box (you can decorate the outside yourself to make it more personal) and fill it with tons of folded slips of paper with encouraging/positive quotes, jokes, happy memories from family and friends, personal caring notes etc. I like to use scrapbooking paper, plain white on one side for writing/printing on, so each slip is pretty and decorative when folded over. Then the person can pull out one (or two or three) when they are feeling down, lonely, just need a pick me up etc. I hope she finds a match soon, my husband had a BMT when he was 8 due to a rare genetic disease, his father became his donor (unmatched) because his sister, who was a match couldn't donate because there was a possibility she was a carrier of the same disease. Females are carriers of it, but males are the ones affected by it. He pulled through fine even with it not being a match, really hoping your daughter's friend does too.

I just got home and he is doing better, breathing-wise, but he will be moved to morrow to Transitional Care for a few days to a couple weeks to get him string enough to make it up the stairs. As for moving, we have our names in almost every APT in the area, for a first floor or one with an elevator. I have a call into our building manager, because there are two-two bedroom Apts downstairs, and the fellow in one of them lost his wife over a year ago, and I'm going to ask the manager if we can get our dibs in, if he moves. We like it here and our neighbors, so that would be super if we could just move down there. Thanks again, for the good thoughts and prayers. I'll go back tomorrow morning to be there when the Dr comes in and be there for the move, so I'll know where to find him.

at least the kidney scan isn't too bad..in fact it didn't take long at all for the ct or the ultrasound...be aware however, if they want to do a mri with contrast the dyes used arn't kidney friendly...lots of blood work, but you can get used to to that... water becomes your best friend...

Judy, my friend that rode in the ambulance with me said she is going to buy me a metal baking dish. She said when the ambulance here in town had their lights and siren on, they have a button on the dash that turns the signal lights green. Two of my fingers are numb because of the severed ulnar nerve. Will take 18 months to two years for that nerve to heal, if it ever does. The artery that was severed was a small artery and the surgeon just tied it off.
