What's for dinner Thursday?

Now I know why all the rain. What was Hurricane Barbara swept across Mexico, went into the Gulf and became tropical storm Andrea. It just this moment is making landfall but the weatherman failed to say where it came in. Geez! We aren't having rain right now but got a lot this morning again and expect more soon. Sure am grateful for the rain. The wind I could do without!

Tonight we're having coconut curried chicken on rice with broccoli. Probably more watermelon. I do have two bakery bought chocolate eclairs that sound a lot better than fruit!

What's for dinner at your house tonight?

Raining pretty hard again now.

patti-hope you are not getting too much rain & had no damage. I want to thank you for your thoughts.
We had a little rain today but now the sun is out & getting warmer.
Dinner for hubby was cheese ravioli baked with pasta sauce, italian sausage & roasted red pepper. I had a cube steak. Made some sugar cookies too..

Even though it felt like fall today......10C below normal temperatures (high was 13C), we had taco salad. Was in the mood for it. It tasted great, but the weather warranted something more along the line of meatloaf and scalloped potatoes!

You need to share the citrus dressing recipe ; it sounds good. Fixed a good salad with mixed greens and all kinds of stuff, lol. Robert didn't want ginger dressing again, so I whipped up creamy green goddess type of concoction.....then put our leftover salmon from last night on top. I am going to have to get some asparagus!

Same as yesterday -- Various snacks, cheeses, hors d'oeuvres, mini sandwiches, chocolate-dipped fruits, and brownies at a Christmas party. Yesterday was a retirement party for the head of the University Library where I work, today was a shindig put on by a large realty firm at which friends of ours work.

Well, I woke up this morning and hubby had 2 pounds of ground beef and 1 pound of sausage thawing in the refrigerator. Cans of tomato sauce, diced tomatoes and tomato paste were on the kitchen counter next to the stove. I took a guess that was a pretty good hint that he was ready for another big pot of spaghetti sauce. We had a huge shrimp salad, spaghetti, and garlic bread.

Jasdip, we put a big pork butt on the grill over the weekend and enjoyed it with a pile of slaw. It's a full day commitment but seemed like a good Labor Day weekend project. Last night, I made a garlicky, gingery chicken stir fry with lots of fresh vegetables, served with brown rice and toasted almonds. I don't know why I don't make something like that more often, it's a favorite.

Cool and rainy here. I made shrimp scampi for myself tonight. Glenda, you would cry for me if you could see what the grocery store here passes off as peaches! The other day the store had no lemons! In the mid summer we will be able to find some good peaches if we look carefully.

We have had an all day gentle to moderate rain. It is badly needed.

Found a carton of Southwestern Style eggbeaters in the fridge that was at it's use by date. Also found a Pillsbury pie crust in there. Checked the pantry and found a can of salmon. So we had Salmon quiche. Didn't have cheddar cheese for it, but the Monterey Jack was fine. Added a bowl of Progresso's Tomato Basil soup (Love that soup) and a plate of fresh veggies.

Its been a very rainy day here in Orlando! We had pork chops and sauerkraut in the crockpot. Dessert was Betty Crocker Fudge Brownies. Now that school is out I am going to 'up my game' in couponing. Went to Family Dollar for the first time. Bought 3 boxes of the brownie mix for $5.40 and receive a $5 off any purchase coupon on my register tape. Went back yesterday and bought 3 more boxes and paid 40 cents using the coupon and received another $5 off coupon. Tempted to do it again lol. I can always save them for donations to a food bank. They are dated sometime in 2014.

Cloudy all day here and a couple of sprinkles, but no hard rain.

We had spaghetti and meatballs for supper.

Having our annual Regions Shoal Creek Golf Tournament here.

So you have to get out and around while the crowd is at the tournament or you will get nowhere in all that traffic.

Managed to stop at Lloyd's again for half a hamburger steak with onions, butter peas (yummy) and a tossed salad.

had my 3rd dr's appt this week, so it was frozen pizza...it was good since the doc has put me on a high fiber diet...(and a follow up colon op in aug...)

Played golf today, followed by luncheon. I was very tired when I got home (could it be the 5 hours sleep?) and wasn't in the mood for cooking or eating. Poor DH. Oh well, he can fend for himself from time to time.

Mary, both your dinners sound good. Some areas are flooding but not around here. We're pretty high up--well, for Florida anyway.

Jasdip, taco salad sounds so good. Hey, sometimes I made vegetable soup when it's 95 degrees outside. Just 'cause it sounds good.

Pam, the peaches in our stores are from California, but I didn't think it was time for them yet. Ours were hard little nubs and had no aroma at all. I can't wait for the Georgia peaches to come in later this month.

Gazania, that was great thinking to make the quiche. I love salmon quiche. I don't usually use eggbeaters and didn't know they came in "flavors". Bet they make a good omelet.

Wow, Lisa--that's like a whole pan of brownies for about 13 cents. I know what you'll be taking for pot lucks this summer! :-) Any flooding in your area?

Linda, if you live near the coast you'll probably get some rain. I've enjoyed every minute of it. It would've been a good night for spaghetti and meatballs.

Glenda, I know what you mean about crowds and traffic. When we lived in Gainesville I learned really quick to do all my shopping on Friday if the Gators had a home football game on a Saturday. We didn't live far from the university and it was a mess.

Susan, I hope the new diet helps you. Can't be too bad since you can eat pizza ;-) Sure sorry you have to have colon surgery.
