dish drawer mold problem

auzzy

With the help of this forum, we remodeled our kitchen about 5 years ago. We have the paneled Fisher Paykel dish drawers. The wood is a light, glazed maple finish from Omega. Recently I've noticed that on the inside of the panel, adjacent to the plastic edge of the dish drawer, mold is embedded in the wood. It doesn't wash off and seems to be underneath the surface finish. Anyway, I was wondering if any of you have experienced this and would have any suggestions on how to remove this mold from the wood paneling without damaging the wood. Fortunately, it doesn't show on the outside, only on the inside when you open the drawer. Thanks.
