Help me choose please ... !

Hello everyone,

I need your assistance in choosing two last items for my kitchen renovation - Lighting & Cabinet hardware. Please help !!!

Whatever you all tell me I will do as I am very confused !

I have included images further below of the other items we have chosen in the kitchen.

Main issue is we have white cabinets & a dark brown tile floor & I dont know whether to accent the BROWN or play up the SILVER finishes.

Our home is a mix of modern & traditional.

We havent decided the ctop 100% but it will likely be Iceberg Quartzite, consists of alot of white, some greys & browns.

or Bianco Antico Granite, consists of a white base & alot of taupes & browns.

Thank you all in advance for any suggestions you can offer.

I'm in love with your granite choice BTW. With your light cabinets and stone, I'd opt for the silver knobs. It's just my opinion that they tie the two in better. Now with the pendant, the brown looks more brassy in the pic then the ORB of the faucet; so I"m voting silver again. You can use the ORB in accents to tie into the faucet. Maybe like an ORB paper towel holder or trivets.

I am no designing expert, but my average-girl opinion is the brown.

Three or four that have done well for me are: Traviata - it's a Romantica, too medium red, very double, cup shaped. I let mine grow as big as they want about 12'h x6'w. It blooms most of the spring/summer/fall. I have 3 (2 were rooted from the mother plant), 2 in full sun, 1 in partial shade (it's much smaller but still healthy), so it seems tolerant to varying conditions. It's only fault is, although BS resistant, it will need to be sprayed, but less so than average, definitely less than most HT's and Abe Darby. James Galway - it's a David Austin. It is a another monster about the size of Traviata. It's flowers are pompom shaped and pink with a little lavender. so this could work if you want something diferent. It gets NO disease in my garden, which is pretty amazing for this area. It is THORNLESS. It makes an over all good landscape plant. It's only fault is, it is not a heavy bloomer. A beautiful spring show, with a few in the fall and not much in between. The first couple yrs it hardy bloomed and I almost sp'ed it. Heritage - also a DA. good bloomer, disease resistant. semi-double shell pink, almost thornless. Double Knockout - it's sold as red but for me it sometimes looked like a dark pink, i think it depends on the lighting. It did really well for me, especially for a 1st yr plant. In the past I would have recommended DA's The Squire, but this wasn't a good year for it, I think the hard winter we had last year almost did it in. I'm hoping it can make a comeback at least to the point aI can take a rooted cutting from it. dark Red to burguncy, very double, flat, heavy bloomer, all summer. Does get BS, less than AD.

I think most of us are choosing our favorite lily, not the best photo of a lily. It helps to know the purpose of the photo too. All of your photos are gorgeous representations of the flowers, which makes it hard to choose. On photographic criteria alone, I would not choose a photo with a name tag in it, but perhaps I'm weird. I also look at the background. My favorite photo here is the first Chang Dynasty and second is Sherry Lane Carr. But I have no idea how to judge a photo, so take it with a grain of salt! Fruit Loops is just delicious. So is Autumn Wood. Now I see what all the hoopla is about with this daylily. Renee

Sorry about your granite. What kind was it? That's a cool sink. I don't recall seeing both kinds of mounts in one kitchen, but I'm sure its been done. And I'm sure it would be fine! For me, I think about function more than form. If the function is right for you, that's what matters.

You need a cream color tablecloth, which will work with the warm gold tones as well as the color of the china. If you plan to use the tall candlesticks, then be sure the centerpieces don't have candles in them, too. Overkill, and then neither one looks nice. Get your centerpieces in done with some white lillies or amaryllis in them, and some silver and gold ornaments,to brighten them up a bit. Use one each of a red, green and white candle in the sets of tall candlesticks. Get some narrower wired ribbon to twist loosely on the stems of the candlesticks, starting at a bow at the top of each stem, to pick up on the twisting ribbon design on the plates. But I have to ask - if you are adding another 4 place settings, where will you put the two sets of candlesticks so that they are evenly spaced on the table?

Okay, I'll vote! I prefer the browns. I think the silver fixture comes off as very monochrome, which would work in a very formal white on white kitchen, but that's not what you have, and I prefer the contrast of the brass (bronze?). And in general, I think that it is good to repeat and reinforce colors that are in your decor scheme (brown floor/faucet/hardware).

Hi sbd..

I love the pendant...very elegant..I'm a sucker for a pretty light.

I hope we don't confuse you more! Here's what I'm thinking. If you go with the Bianco Ant. then go with the brown choices. If you go with the Iceberg then go with the silver.

I'm sure your will get different responses. I think either way it will look good....just my opinion.

The pic of the brown pendant light is not very accurate, it is actually a dark brown similar to the faucet & brown knob.

I'd prefer the silver. More elegant and soft; less heavy than the brown...And I wouldn't want the knobs and light fixtures to connect with the floor. I want the floor to ground the space and coordinate, but not be brought to my attention by a connection with things placed higher in the room. I think the silver will let your counters and any backsplash you have be more of a focus.
