I appreciate all the input thus far. Thank you for the complements on my wall of windows. That is my favorite part, especially because we have a view of the water. It has always been my dream! The 90 degree lowers don't seem like they lose much space compared to the angled. Red_lover, I particularly like how your doors open on these cabinets. Do you like it or find it awkward? Do you have hardware on one door or both? I don't think I would be hurting for storage if I didn't have the angled upper. Speaking of storage, that is another thing I'm debating on changing. I have all drawers in the lower cabinets and was going to have one regular cabinet with adjustable shelves or rollouts. I was debating on making it another bank of drawers. I know everyone here seems to be a drawer fan. I already have around 20 drawers and 2 lazy susans. Any thoughts on this? I agree with you Annkh, I am worried it would look funny ending with angled cabinets and nothing attached to them. Your dog is cute by the way. :) Chitownkat, it's funny you mention open shelving. I love open shelving and that is actually one of my changes not shown in the picture. I added some open shelving on the right side of the kitchen between the cabinets to mirror the opening in the cabinets on the left side where the range hood is. Icskaisgir, do your cabinet doors scrape against eachother when you open them? I'm just curious because your doors open differently than red's, and similar but it looks slightly different than teachertile. I love your countertops btw. I love all the gorgeous kitchens! So I'm definitely leaning towards 90 degree lower and an upper that ends against the wall. Do you guys think ending against a wall or an easy reach would be better for the upper? I'm a visual person so I'm having a hard time deciding.

I had two diagonal uppers in my old kitchen. When I took everything out of them prior to our remodel, I was amazed at the junk that had been lost in the back! I couldn't see it, couldn't reach it, didn't know it was there. Space that isn't easily accessible is wasted space. Now I have two easy-reach cabinets, and I am delighted. I can actually use all the space! Sure, I still put things on the top shelves that I don't use much (this is the case with all the top shelves - I'm short), but now I can see what's up there, so those items aren't lost. The only time an angled cabinet might be preferable is if it is filled with super susans - and even then you have to plan for what will be on them (big items are better than small), and the corners are inaccessible.

A corner sink has certain advantages. But I think that with the corner sink arrangement as you've described it, with a batwing sink, you will be missing out on those very advantages. I am linking a thread that describes what's wonderful about a corner sink (and a couple of cons as well), with a bunch of photos too. I particularly like Jayjay_teacher's farm sink in the corner location, since a farm sink is more ergonomic for your back, but any other sink style is wonderful too, except for the batwing! Are you literally doing the painting? Or would you be ordering cabinets in those colors? I ask because if you are painting them yourself, you can always wait till after the fact, right? And paint them once they are up and you have a complete "visual" of what everything looks like. I think your color idea sounds gorgeous... I'm just not sure about what happens at the corner of the "L" configuration, either. Is there some way you can do a Photoshop of it? It would hopefully at least give you a good idea? Or, low tech it by painting a piece of poster board in the pale blue-green color and taping it over the end cabinet that would be that color? I do stuff like that all the time and it really helps me get a visual. One other suggestion, maybe you could do your upper cabinets one color and your lower cabinets the other color? We KNOW that works! ;o) Can't wait to hear (and SEE!) what you decide! Lynn
