Ever Feel Like getting rid of your Collection?
Comments (18)Kevin are you ok? Any one of us would have taken them and probably paid you for them. Don't take your grouchiness out on the orchids. Easy! You are scaring us! All orchids are pretty much mass produced . We know you are the resident phal hater. ;-) The rehabs ranged from Phals to paphs to intergens. Phals are not space hogs. I have really grow to like them. A 17 bulb Deppi or a yard+ of Stanhopea popping growths from every side, that's a hog and pendulant bottom blooms are tough to juggle in an indoor set up. That isn't really my main complaint, space. Like Paul says, over time you develope a taste for specific forms and don't need everything. If I am not enjoying Sharry Baby, why light it? Let someone else enjoy it. I don't think asco's are really fun to grow in z-5. Love them but that's when I lived in z-10. The service is killing me. I feel like I can't leave for a week. Only Carolyn's curvofoilium is easy for me. The bigger ones are too time demanding to keep on track. I am going to begin to get it together. I think I am going to do as Carolyn says, 2 rounds. immediate release and then a 2nd release. Some will make me sad. They have been my buddies. But it's time. Thanks for all the input. Comments (17)I think the problem may be related to not too much water, but in fact that the water level is not consistant. I know that mature tomato plants can use up to 5 gallons of water a day. You appear to have very small pots and even though they are getting water ever few days they in fact may be stressed because not getting enough water. I have Earth Boxes on my porch and also plant in garden. I put in an Early Girl first week of February with a Water Wall around it and am watering it every other day and I keep a water tray under the pot with water constantly keeping the soil moist. I use Garrett Juice Plus,Thrive, and Plant Wash (all Organic). Been using for several years and the Plant Wash will do away with you pest problems. I mix all of it up in a gallon of water and water all plants with it and rarely have any problems. Even moisture in soil is key to releaving stress to any plant. Comments (70)Old bills! Yes, I had almost 25 years of boxes of old bills in the attic. Come tax time I was usually so tired (winter) that I would just bundle them up and put them in a grocery bag or box. Even though 2 years ago I finally got a shredder, it just seemed overwhelming to deal with all that paper. As identity theft gets more and more publicity, I realized that I needed to go through all of it and shred anything that might have a cc number on it. So I brought it all down into the dining room. I hated looking at the boxes. It has taken me a year to do it it spurts, but now I am down to just one laundry basket filled with old checks. I have an old artist cutting board (you know the one with the big knife slicer on the side)and have used it to cut off the necessary parts of bills and bank statements thereby lessoning the amount of paper that needed to go in the shredder. My once Darkroom in the basement has become a storage room for my figure skating memorabilia collection as well as other items. I finally trashed over 800 VCR tapes. I really never relooked at them and there is no market for them, and the young people today want only DVD or YouTube. My skating boot man taught me a valuable lesson - you've had something for x number of years regardless of whether you did something with the item or not. Time to just cut your losses and let it go. So a few years ago I sold my Steinway upright piano - for the same price I paid for it in 1976. Time to let it go! And it freed up valuable space in my dining room. Lastly, since my best friend had to declutter the houses of 3 family members, and knowing the toll it took on her, I vowed I would not subject her to the same mess in my house. She is my executrix and I am single and 61. Something could happen at any time to anyone - injury, illness, or death. I don't want to be a burden to her alive or dead. When I declutter at the times I get a 'spurt' I give myself permission to spend x number of minutes and then can stop without feeling guilty. I also say to myself, if I had to suddenly move or if the house caught fire, what would mean the most to me....could I live without certain items? I know most of you are married and/or have kids adding to your burden, but just wanted you to know that single people also have cluttering problems and at times it seems even worse as the incentive to clear is hampered by 'who will know anyway' attitude. Just thought I too would share.........See MoreI am so ready to get rid of STRESS!
Comments (20)Where are you located? Here in Florida, there are so many investors out there looking for deals to flip and of course they have to get the house for alot less than what the seller wants so they can do the fix up and flip it or as perhaps in your case - rent it out(since he wants the furniture)and still make a profit. Go to you county's Property Appraisal's website and look at all the houses in your area (your street or subdivision) where the houses are similiar in size to yours. Look at the Just Market Value and see how yours compares. You can also find recent sales in your area to do comparables. Your realtor should have already done this for you but if he/she is being honest with you, the price you are asking should be in line with those that are in your area and are same age, size, tc. If you have insisted on pricing it too high (please don't take offense, DH and I have been there, done that too), then you may not be getting offers that you would if it were priced appropriately. For alot of people there is an emotional tie to their home, especially if it has been "the family" home for a long time. My next door neighbor has refused to let her SIL sell her home (she lives in another city with her DD and SIL. They have lawn care done on it weekly and yet she has not lived in it for over the last 10 years. You may also be having to compete with many foreclosures that are around or even short sales where people are trying to get out from under homes that they can no longer afford to make payments on and will sell if the bank will accept what they can get for it and forgive the difference. If this same guy has visited your home 5 times in 19 months, he is not in a real hurry to relocate and is bidding his time, wanting to haggle with you. If you know where he is from, you can go to that county's Property Appraisal site and put in his name. It will show you a list of all the properties he has owned or owns. Bet you he is an investor/renter/flipper as well as a used car salesman. We are assuming that you have your own realtor and are not trying to sell it on your own. Remember if so, his realtor is not working for you - you definitely need someone to represent your interests. I'd tell the buyer's realtor you will get back to him when and if you are ready to go that low but for now that isn't happening. Then see what happens....See Moreparma42
