Kitchen Window Covering?
Comments (15)I was just going to suggest something similar to antiquesilver: a fabric covered cornice that wraps around the corner. We had something similar to that in a former house and instead of blinds we had sheers on a draw rod. I guess it sounds dated but it really was a soft airy look. If we needed to cut the glare or needed to obscure the view from the outside in, we drew the sheers and light still filtered in. It was lovely. I always thought sheers were easier to care for than blinds. You just pop them into the wash! Then you can hang them back up to dry. If you didn't want to do the padded/fabric cornice then any type of fabric valance could be used for the same effect....See MoreHas anyone used Benjamin Moore Yorkshire Tan?
Comments (12)Thanks for the replies! I've been reading a LOT since finding this site and I can tell I will be addicted. I would have to classify my compulsion to constantly improve my home's aesthetics as... ILLNESS, really! At the very least - obsession. I just wish I had enough rooms & money to accommodate all my ideas. :) Ok I admit, I'm already addicted to the threads for different colors in the gallery. :*) I don't have any pics handy, but my palette is rich earth tones, and I'm partial to natural fabrics and hand-made accessories. Wood is unfortunately not white. :( It's a light-medium oak with orange undertones. *sigh* I did finally find some pictures of Yorkshire Tan in action -- and in these pics I don't think it's too dark, but these rooms also have a lot more white in them than mine does. See the "afters" here. I may need to revisit the Benjamin Moore store and check out the color(s) higher on the strip, especialyl since this room only has two windows and they get onyl indirect light after sunrise... AND because I'm not a fan of white ceilings....See MoreLet me show you my rug, need paint color advice
Comments (3)Hi Mollie, You may want to consider a camel or wheat tone to go well with what you have described in your room. That would compliment the red brick and the cherry tones you would see in the kitchen AND the medium oak table (you mention it is large) so make sure the paint tone blends nicely with the wood color of the table and chairs). This color will go well with the pine floors you have now but should also be very nice if you opt for a richer tone in the future. This range of wall color should be very nice with all the various colors in your carpet and the blue will just become a small accent. Have fun!...See MoreHelp with FR wall paint color, overanalyzing things
Comments (15)Amsunshine - I checked out the Waterbury Cream on the website and will look at it in the store. For paint color, I did purchase some actual paint to make up larger samples. You should have seen what I had to take down off of my wall before I could take the picture! Valinsv - The small chair in your living room picture, is it blue or green. The Wilmington Tan looks nice with it and as a reference point I wonder how your chair color compares to my sofa color. Loribee - Thanks, I hadn't thought of using the background color from the pillow. I was focusing more on the colors in the rug. I was so happy to finally get rid of the blue furniture color scheme I had before and thought it would be no problem picking a color for the wall (I have had this off white for so long). The color and sheen from the fabric on my sofa really brightened up the room. Then when I started down the road on my color quest, I was surprised at how much my northern exposure changed the paint color samples. A paint color that looks nice in a brighter light can turn dreary in my northern light....See More- 14 years ago
