Has anyone used Benjamin Moore Yorkshire Tan?

Hi! First post. :) I found this website while Googling for pictures of rooms with Benjamin Moore's Yorkshire Tan. I searched here but could only find it named in posts, never actually used or pics. I'm 95% decided to use this color for my living room and have sample boards on the walls, but I have a lasting concern that it will be a little too dark. Would love to hear from anyone who has used it, or see pics of it in action!

Hey, welcome! Get ready for some serious addiction...if you haven't already experienced it! Anyway, I did a search for you and only one post comes up, but only because it was mentioned, but there are no pics. But, don't let that stop you. We would LOVE to see any pics you have of your sample board. :)

I don't have pictures...but strangely enough I saw this color in a Mitchell Gold/Bob Williams store. Do you have one by you? I asked about the color and it seemed to be their standard khaki color that they use. Maybe there are pictures on their website? I know that could be a wild goose chase, but thought I'd mention it in case it could be helpful.

I have a beautiful old apartment in Sacramento. It has hardwood floors and some dark accents like a brown brick fireplace. We used Athena in this apartment and it is absolutely gorgeous. It is not pink. The light is from the South and the color is perfect. I grew to absolutely love this color. My younger tenants who are in their 30's love it and they usually buy a grey sofa for the room.

I think with whites the base becomes a big deal. I was told by a SW guy the teason they cant mat h their new White Snow Emerald Designer series color is that the new EDS base is whiter than their normal base. Was just told at a different store that each line of paint the base is different and that as you go up the line the look is usually cleane because of less clay in the paint (just what one paint guy said) Deciddd to use BM color because SW seems grY to me. Now finding out that my contractors guy might be using color mat hed PPG. wth So here I sit looking at my Ben Moore sample pints primed and painted plaster boards wondering why White Dove looks so seriously dark and freaking green but cloud white is white with a slight red undertine (which I kind of like actually but my "white" quartz is actually kind of yellow) all the exact opposite of every paint blogger review Ive read. I wont be able to afford to repaint and this is freaking me out.

Constellation. I I have used Constellation, but in a waterfront home facing east. It is a beautiful color, but wondering if it is too pale for the kitchen. It can get lost among all the greige. With such defined colors as Revere Pewter and Solitude, would you consider a darker tone with the same undertone as Solitude? B.M. Province Blue

I love Boothbay Gray. It definitely looks blue. In one room, I have pink accents. In another, sea green. My trim is Cloud White.

Well, I've stared at this color quite a bit lately since it is one color down from Pittsfield Buff - the color I'm going with in my FR (I think! - no, definitely I know that's the color - maybe) Anyways, it does feel to me to be a medium toned color - not real dark, but not light either.Do you have white woodwork? If so, I think this color would look well with light woodwork. Can you post a photo? What other colors do you have in the room - ie. sofa/window treatments/carpet?

No pics, but if you are certain this color is right for your space, but are just concerned about how dark it is, you might want to ask your Benjamin Moore paint shop for a quart of the same color at 50% strength, and then compare that to your current sample. You can also go 75%, but sometimes they can't mix quarts at 75% accurately, depending on the formula.

Thanks for the replies! I've been reading a LOT since finding this site and I can tell I will be addicted. I would have to classify my compulsion to constantly improve my home's aesthetics as... ILLNESS, really! At the very least - obsession. I just wish I had enough rooms & money to accommodate all my ideas. :) Ok I admit, I'm already addicted to the threads for different colors in the gallery. :*)

I don't have any pics handy, but my palette is rich earth tones, and I'm partial to natural fabrics and hand-made accessories. Wood is unfortunately not white. :( It's a light-medium oak with orange undertones. *sigh*

I did finally find some pictures of Yorkshire Tan in action -- and in these pics I don't think it's too dark, but these rooms also have a lot more white in them than mine does. See the "afters" here. I may need to revisit the Benjamin Moore store and check out the color(s) higher on the strip, especialyl since this room only has two windows and they get onyl indirect light after sunrise... AND because I'm not a fan of white ceilings.

The color looks nice on the pics you linked to. They describe it as a soft beige green. Just make sure green is what you want. Sometimes when the color says "tan" we assume we won't see green. Paint a foamboard or poster board, 2 coats, and live with it for a few days. Nice color.

I resurected this post because I was looking for some photo's of rooms done in this color.

I had picked out a toile fabric for my hall bath and the background is tan/green in color. BM guy couldn't do a color match with the machine as they said it doesn't read fabric well. So he took a shot and well, he was off just a bit. Now I'm the proud owner of more more can of paint I can't use in the new house (Monroe Bisque). I came home and looked through my sample sheets of BM colors and I found the Yorkshire Tan and it's a dead on match. I can't believe my good luck!!

Am curious if leah decided to use it or not.

brutuses~you may be able to take it back to the store and have it "fixed", depending on the skill of the person behind the counter. I did that a couple of times. They won't refund/replace the paint if it doesn't come out right, but what have you got to lose?

I have used this color a TON in my house. I saw it in a home several years back; that's what got my attention. I have it in my hallways, Master bedroom and bathroom. I'm about to re-do my Master bath. I want to keep the Yorkshire Tan on walls but may do the vanity in it as well if I can make it work. Maybe in a more glossy.

This is an amazing color. It blends with everything. Depending on lighting it goes from khaki to grey to green to a warm tan. I recently thoght of trying another color, but I can't find anything I like as much.
