Here's a couple of my cozy, a.k.a. small, dining room. I wanted to get away from too much wood due to the hardwood floors, wood table, wood buffet and so I went with the parsons chairs. I like the warmth the fabric brings to a room.

akrn-- thats exactly what i want to do- warm up the house full of wood! Where did you get your high back- they are beautiful.... are you happy with the fabric? I'm worried about kids and spilling etc.... is there a fabric to look for that you can have a carpet steaming company steam if someone spilled something on the fabric? thanks!

After seeing Parsons chairs at a couple stores that were $600 and up, I did a search online and found these at CarringtonCourtDirect.com. They have very reasonable prices and I used their fabric. They will send you swatches or you can use their own. I was really surprised at how well made they are for the price, the legs are even covered in fabric and the chairs have casters on them that are rubber, I think they were about $19 per chair extra. The fabric is really durable, also I rotate them every month because of the sun that comes in the windows in the back. Best of all, they're comfortable, too ;) If you want to see better pics,let me know and I can email you directly.

Last- the seat itself- is it comfortable? And my DH is larger-- is the seat big?? deep and wide? thank you!!

I bought them at the Bombay store. Here is a better picture, the first one didnt show the fabric too well. They might have them in different fabrics now. This one is golds, olives and reds.

Suzie, just measured the depth of seat to be just under 19" and the width of the chair is 21". The material I chose is a cotton/poly and they have been used on a daily basis since I bought them over a year ago and still look like new. I spilled spaghetti sauce on one of them a few months ago and can't even tell which chair it was on. I did Scotchguard them myself, however, due to the heavy use they would be getting. As far as how they are made, they are very sturdy. If you're hesitant to buy 4 or 6 or however many you need, you could try one and use it for a vanity, desk, or wherever you might need an additional chair. I did a search for Carrington Court and found nothing but complimentary reviews for them. I was skeptical, too, because of the price. In fact the chair I wanted at Ethan Allen was the same price for one chair that I paid for four but these are definitely well made chairs.

I don't know what type of fabric to advise you on but I'm sure someone here can tell you what would work best for wear and tear. I ordered swatches that were a big help with the decision making process. I'm amazed at the wealth of information on here, who needs interior decorators when you have this GW forum?!

Yes i was thinking maybe i should order 1 and then try it out? So when you spilled spagetti sauce- did you wipe it off with water? Or did you get a carpet cleaning service to clean it?

Wow, I ordered parsons chairs from Carrington. I expressed concern at the quality. The man on the phone offered to send me one chair. If I didn't like it, returns would be paid by me. I considered it and then ordered. If they are so sure that I would like it ...and I, and we, did. Black leather with mahogany stain on the legs. I have a mahogany buffet with a black marble top. These chairs coordinate beautifully! I don't like black, but they are very nice and very comfortable!

Beachlily, your experience really says a lot about a company IMO. They must be very confident in the quality of what they make and sell for an offer like that. I was impressed with the quality, too.

Suzie, I washed off the sauce with soap and water. It came off easily and I honestly can't tell which chair it was since I do rotate them almost monthly. I used their fabric since I found something that really coordinated with the draperies in the dining room. Before spending additional money on your own fabric, you can try some of their swatches. I received them in less than a week and the chairs within 3 weeks of my order.

There are so many substandard companies in business today that it's nice to be able to say something good about one and pass it on to others.

I was worried that a set of 6 fabric chairs would just look too busy and crowded, so we're only doing 2, then adding 4 wood chairs.
We have kids, and I wanted the chairs to last, so we're getting ones slipcovered in a gorgeous print that's actually a microfiber.
