Comments (36)Lucretzia, it has been about 5 months and so far, so good. We also have a dry bar adjacent to our dining room and the granite guys forgot to seal it! We got red wine stains on it right away...it is a bar after all! :) I managed to get them out with bleach...thank goodness...and hubby ran to the hardware store to buy a sealer and we sealed it right away. We also spilled wine on the island (which was sealed) and it wiped up easily...no problem. So, I assume as long as it is kept sealed, we should be ok. Not only is our granite honed, but it is also pitted in some areas. It is pretty cool and we get lots of positive comments about how unique it is. The only problem so far with the pitting is when my 4-year old daughter paints at the bar, I have had to use a little brush to get paint out of one of the "pits" already. No biggie, but if the counter was polished, it wouldn't be an issue at all. We had polished at our last house and it was super easy to keep clean. That said, I would do honed again in a minute. It really suits our space. I think as long as we maintain the sealer on it we should be fine. The good part is due to the movement of the stone, even if it does get a stain, it will probably blend right in! :)...See MoreLRV of Benj. Moore 'Muslin' vs. 'Bone White'
Comments (8)I wouldn't assume one is "brighter" than the other strictly based on the LRV measurement/number. "Brighter" speaks to a different *part* of color. Brighter, dulled, vivid, grayed speaks to intensity or saturation. Also, sometimes people refer to this part of color as chromaticity or just chroma. LRV is all about how much light is reflected or absorbed. Muslin and Bone White are super close in LRV - close and both are light colors. A LRV spread of five or six isn't going to make that much of a difference -- on average and for most general purposes -- that narrow of a spread isn't something that should matter when it comes to making a color decision....See MoreBenjamin Moore Antique White for kitchen cabinets?
Comments (11)I'm painting my cabinets ivory white. It's a beautiful color. I'm putting on my third (yes, third) coat tonight. I'm spraying them, though. The people at Fine Paints said I should do three coats. I found out about the color through Home Beautiful in one of their colors that designers use. Alexa hampton said she loved the color and her father used it too. I love both of their styles, so I tried it out. It really is beautiful. I did consider, btw, Pratt and Lambert's seed pearl. It is somewhat similar. And gorgeous too, I think i read that Victoria Hagan promotes seed pearl. I've inserted an exerpt from Washington post about ivory white.... Q. Trim paint I just wanted to thank Alexa - when we were redecorating about 5 years ago, I read in an article about her that she loved Benjamin Moore 925 (ivory white) for trim/woodwork -- we used it thorughout our house and just love it -- it is the perfect combination of rich, soft, and crisp! May 06, 2010 10:48 AM Permalink A. Alexa Hampton : Yeah!! Another 925 convert. Bless us all (and check out AF 20, too)!-------- I found out that it is BM's marscapone (didn't realize it until today- was also a contender.) May 06, 2010 11:19 AM Good luck! Comments (11)Many of us have been in your place, wondering which white is right. Only you can really determine what looks good in your space with your light. And of course, the light changes throughout the day. I can only recommend that you begin to winnow it down with large chips, then get sample quarts of the best ones, maybe 4 or 5. Paint something large, like a piece of foamcore so you have enough to look at. Let it sit for a day in one place so you can see the various conditions before you move it to another place. One thing I discovered made it more confusing: It's easy to compare one color against another, but it's meaningless because the color has to work in your space, not against a competitor. So, make sure there is some separation between your finalists. Good luck. Even after I made my final decision, I second-guessed myself for a week or so. But in the end, I love the one I chose (BM Cloud White)....See Moredeedles
