What's your favorite BM paint colors?
Comments (84)After living with the (boring) neutrals that were in the house when we moved here 15 years ago, we just finished painting all of our upstairs rooms and I love all the colors. Hard to pick a favorite, as each was chosen to go with the light and furnishings in that particular room. What I probably love most is the Atrium White trim and how it plays nicely with all of the somewhat intense colors we chose. All have LRVs around 30: Louisburg Green, Van Cortland Blue, Richmond Gold, Summerdale Gold are all lovely. In the bath, which gets lots of western light and has bright white fixtures and shower curtain, we went more intense with Philipsburg Blue. I couldn't be happier....See MorePost a picture of your favorite off white FORMULA
Comments (4)Kath, this may help you. I read the blog and essentially you have to have an understanding of how colors mixed lean to warm undertones or cool. But what she also neglected to say is every color has a LRV-(light reflective value or how the paint will reflect light) Benjamin Moore Natural Wicker Color OC-1 Paint has a Light Reflectance Value (LRV) of 73.8 and a Cool undertone, while Benjamin Moore Muslin Color OC-12 Paint has a Light Reflectance Value (LRV) of 69 and a Warm undertone. Muslin will appear a bit darker. I'll link my favorite site for BM colors. While it doesn't post formulas, it does give you the undertone and the LRV of the color you are interested in by clicking on the paint name. I have found it very useful for any of my painting because it helps isolate what level of lightness your eye is drawn to. I also like to vist Glidden too because they also list LRV. If you want to read up on LRV over in Home Decorating do a search for it or search for "Funcolors". She is a beloved paint guru. HTH! Comments (21)if I am seeing yellow or seeing more gray and the more gray the more blue or green the color appears. ..... to you. That's the actual color appearance according to your color acuity which is defined by the context your viewing the color and the lighting where YOU are. Some people would describe how those colors actually look to them the same as you - they would agree. But some won't. Because they're viewing the colors in a different context and lighting than you. For example, comparing Extra White or Rhinestone to Lily White makes it easy to see why they belong to the Green-Yellow and Green hue families respectively. In context of a color that is factually blue, they are unlikely to look blue. We have to leave room for how other people see color in their actual space - which is different from you. Acknowledging that actual color perception is different from factual color, not only leaves room for everyone's perception of color but it also provides an elastic framework to manage the fact that color appearance is not static. How Jennifer sees color is actual color. It's a real. A completely validate-able and worthy of acknowledgement thing. LCh is the factual color framework we use to manage the diversity in color acuity person to person, context to context, lighting scenario to lighting scenario....See MoreNeed help deciding on paint colors for main floor.
Comments (19)I still think a beige would be nice with blush tones. Here is one that is not so pink.
