I think you have to have a sample of each color you are considering to see how it works with your other selections. I looked at a bunch of whites (painted wood blocks) and Benjamin Moore Simply White was clearly the best match. I had planned in using White Dove but it ended up being completely wrong with the other elements.

Many of us have been in your place, wondering which white is right. Only you can really determine what looks good in your space with your light. And of course, the light changes throughout the day. I can only recommend that you begin to winnow it down with large chips, then get sample quarts of the best ones, maybe 4 or 5. Paint something large, like a piece of foamcore so you have enough to look at. Let it sit for a day in one place so you can see the various conditions before you move it to another place.

One thing I discovered made it more confusing: It's easy to compare one color against another, but it's meaningless because the color has to work in your space, not against a competitor. So, make sure there is some separation between your finalists.

Good luck. Even after I made my final decision, I second-guessed myself for a week or so. But in the end, I love the one I chose (BM Cloud White).

I am not familiar with Snowfall but I have White Dove throughout my house on trim and like it a lot but it is definitely dulled down, if you know what I mean. My current (soon to be replaced) kitchen cabinets are BM china white. You might give it a sample. I find it less beige than White Dove but still soft and almost chalky. If you are willing to consider SW, Origami could really look nice with your tile/ counter/ back-splash. For some reason, to me Origami feels modern and warm (vs modern and stark).

I am in the process of having my cabinets painted and have been debating "the best white" also! The company that is painting does nothing but paint cabinets. Their rep told me that their most popular whites are White Dove, Linen White and Chantilly Lace. I was lucky to get some $1.99 sample sizes and just painted posterboard of the ones I'm considering (so far I'm White Dove and I thought I would for sure be marscapone). I think Simply White might be a good option for you also. Good luck!

We ended up using Bavarian Cream for all our wood trim. The online chip looks very creamy, but it doesn't look like that at all on our trim. You might want to check it out.

P.S. The ceiling is Patriotic White, so a different white altogether.

My painter took two old (oak) doors that I was replacing and painted them completely with my finalists (BM Cloud White and Simple White). It helped a lot because they were real wood, real doors. I could have chosen either one and been happy. In fact, for a week or so, I thought maybe I'd chosen the wrong one. In the end, the white I chose (Cloud White) turned out to be one I love. It's creamier in action than it seemed on a sample, but I suspect that's just how the ambient light works. Now I love that they're soft and creamy. Yum.

I think that the counter and floor are going to be pretty forgiving--there are a lot of whites that will look good with them. I think you need to focus on what will look good with the tile. I grabbed your image and paired it with a few of the whites that have been suggested, and they all made the tile read slighly blue. Big caveat there, of course, because I'm working with photographs from the web viewed on a computer monitor, but the experiment was enough to tell me that finding a white that worked with the backsplash was going to be the critical factor.

As others have said, you need to make any color comparisons and evaluations in your own space and your own light.

It really is something you need to try in your space. My cabinets are painted decorators white and it is not cold or too stark as others may suggest. I tried the popular whites first but they didn't work. For example, dove white looked absolutely yellow in my space.

I posted a similar question at Houzz and a interior designer from NY said that I should not Muddle through my project and should hire an interior designer. RUDE. Anyhow, thanks for your help. The tip on the tile reading blue is great, I did not really consider that and I certainly need to because I think you are exactly right. Simply white is the only sample I have that really seems to go really well with the tile, even the Chantilly lace looks somewhat beige next to the tile, yuck!!. I am going to make big samples and try my best three in bigger sizes as well. Someone suggested Origami from SW and I will take a look at that as well. I appreciate the help, I'm thinking at this point that Simply White will be the one but not totally sure yet and will post pictures of my completed project.

mxgmom would you mind posting a picture of your kitchen with the decorators white? I am so curious to see this. This color looks positively grey next to all of my materials and am curious how it looks in your space and what materials you have used with it.
