I have used simply white on big columns in my living room and find it a bright, but not gray or bluish white. That room gets both southern and western exposure, so I wanted something that didn't look to yellowed as the original paint did.

Now I'm getting ready to paint my kitchen, but this room is north facing, so for these cabinets I DO want something with a bit of a yellow undertone to counteract the cooler sunlight.

It can be a bit tricky, but definitely take your room's exposure into account. Also, someone mentioned putting the chip against a pure white background, like paper, and see what undertones pop out.

You may want to see if the store has the small 3 oz samples of your 2 or 3 final choices. Paint a piece of scrap wood for each color and see how it reflects the light in your space both during the day and at night. I think paint on the wall and paint on wood looks different.

Since you already have black granite counter tops I would lean more towards a cool white. Does the granite have any other colors in it? But remove the sample from the fan deck and put your favorites on top of the counter and look at the color at different times of the day.

Or like Kathec says, paint a piece of scrap wood of your choices and lay it on the counter to get a visual.

After looking at many paint chips for months we also went with Chantilly Lace. It's a great color and doesn't look too stark, grey, or creamy.

I went to the store, looked at the samples and bought 2 small cans of paint. White Dove and another I can't recall.

Came home and painted them on poster board. After looking at each one for a few days, I did choose White Dove.

I didn't like it much on the little paper paint swatch, it looked too grey. But on my cabinets, it's PERFECT!

It's white white...without being hospital white....and there are no undertones to it. I LOVE it!

I have at least 20 sample jars of paint from ben moore. Total insanity. Anyway, I highly recommend buying online at either buyaurapaint.com or myperfectcolor.com. The little chips are too hard to tell and the samples in the stores are limited in color and expensive.

I thought simply white was pretty clean. I wanted something creamier so I wont be using it, but its neutral (but bright) imo.

We are going with China White - It looks a little deeper than white dove on the swatch but is very similar. I have seen in it person in a kitchen and love it.

Mine will be Acadia White, simply because that's what all the built-ins in our house are painted right now so we're just going to match it. It's a pretty warm white, as those things go, but seems to work well with the house. We have it with golds, greens, and beiges in other rooms and it's pretty flexible. The PO had some color specialist choose all the colors, but they did a decent job, I think.

I'm having the same problem. My cabinets are currently stark white and with pets they show every speck of dirt and I'm constantly wiping them down. Not a fan. I want to repaint them in a warmer white that will be more forgiving but am having a hard time choosing.

Seems that everyone is going with Acadia White but it seems "too white" for us. I'll probably end up going a shade or two warmer.

Coffeeaddict........Linen white is much warmer, that might work for you.

I think I've decided on Dove White, as my kitchen gets western afternoon light (which is warm, right? So I want a cool white to mellow it down...am I correct in this?). But I'm having all the trim and windows repainted too.

Do I use the same color on trim in kitchen, even thought it will differ from what is in the rest of the house?

I have not looked at Chantilly Lace (or it's pretty face...) yet though, so I will have to add that to my mix.

I have a ton of my White Dove paint (Cabinet Coat brand) leftover, so I am going to paint my trim with it. Trim is so small, that I don't think it will be a problem anywhere looking TOO white.
