There is a shipload of kitchen scales designed for average home use including some very sleek ones such as Ozeri and Escali but with kitchen equipment, sleek does not always translate to good. For instance, the popular touch button feature is indeed stylish but it just wonâÂÂt work if your hands are wet. Concerning functionality, OXO Good Grips is probably the best food scale available at the moment. Pull-out display, removable and dishwasher safe parts and tangible buttons are some of the things that make it my choice.

I also have a small digital Salter scale but I've got to tell you that in growing tomatoes for many decades only ONCE have I ever deliberately weighed a few tomato fruits and that's when someone was asking about the largest tomato I'd ever grown and it happened to be a very wet summer and I had a few that got huge just from xs rain. I'm not one who counts fruits on all my plants and nor do I weigh them. Probably many years ago I did weigh a few but then it was just as easy to estimate sizes in oz when recording data on new varieties being grown. That's just me and I know there are those who methodically count fruits and weigh fruits but my personality doesn't allow me to do that. LOL Fact is that for most of my tomato growing so called career I'd have hundreds of plants and varieties out there in a given season and it was enough to be able to record for new varieties; plant habit, leaf form, first blossoms, first fruit set, first ripe tomatoes, color and shape and size of fruits. I recently bought a MyWeight 7001DX food and postal scales from Amazon. The total cost including delivery was about $41. It has a 15 pound capacity, weighs in grams, kilograms, pounds and ounces. I really like it because if using pounds it comes out as pounds and a percent of pounds and if you use ounces you will get pounds and ounces. It runs on AAA batteries which are included with the purchase but I would opt to purchase the adapter. (I didn't, but wish I would have although the batteries are still doing great.) Other features I like are tare weight, a hold button, a lighted, adjustable backlit display and a 30 year guarantee. It also includes a letter holder, an expansion bowl and a mailing tube holder. I have found it very accurate and use it almost every day for something. Love being able to weigh packages, etc. so I can order postage on line. Good luck with what you purchase.

The capacity is 15.4 lbs and can weigh is grams, kilograms, pounds, ounces and pounds and pounds using a decimal point. It runs of three AAA batteries or an adapter you can purchase. (I wish I would have.) It has a tare feature and you can zero it in at each ingredient without having to remove the container from the top. It comes with a 30 year guarantee. It has a adjustable back lighting feature and a hold button so if your package is too large to view the screen, you can push hold, remove the package and still see the weight. It comes with the batteries, a fitted plastic bowl of good size, a holder for mail and a holder for tube mailing. I use it daily.....baking, portion control, packages and just playing around. I think with shipping it was $41.00.) Someone here suggested putting into a plastic baggie to keep it clean.....love that suggestion I made some whole wheat walnut bread using grams and it came out perfectly.
