You can get your granite anywhere but the fabricator will determine "fast and reasonable". I think boxerpups fabricator was from NH. My prices had a wide range (one end to the other doubled in price) for the same 2 slabs from Marble and Granite in Westwood (near the T station on 128). They have the biggest selection in New England but only have a few on display. Their website is wonderful http://www.marbleandgranite.com/slabs/ They have close slab pictures close up and far away. It has a nice pricing guide - like - I could never afford a "blue dot" granite.

My fabricator was OK but if you have seams I probably wouldn't go with him. He was over $3500 cheaper than the most expensive one - a big deal for me.

BGE Has very high prices for slabs. Every piece of rock
comes through their import and gets distributed to everyone
else. Before rushing there I would find out from BFR if
they can get you a fair price per slab.

Sudbury granite went out of business at three locations,
maybe they are still in operation in their sudbury office
but they never return calls. Watch out for them.

Gerrity is pretty good but they are not always flexible on
bringing the price down.

At least give Jessie a call or e-mail to see if he can
give you a fair price. He runs a tight ship and only has
true artists working on his staff. Keep in mind
BFR does commercial stuff as well as residential so they
can bring their prices down far easier than some of these
smaller places. They do work in NH, ME, MA, VT, CT and
Canada. When I chose BFR I wanted someone
reputable and had a good long history of work.
I adore my perfect seams.

Thanks so much both of you. We'll check them out. Not sure we'll end up with granite, but it's worth checking out some deals and remnants. I think she wants AB - seems like that would be easy. Maybe we'll end up with a granite tile or even laminate.

We spent 6 hours at Ikea yesterday buying cabinets and stuff - delivery tomorrow. Assembly over the weekend. Yikes. Just took one look at the old filthy cabinets after the closing and decided we couldn't deal. Amazing how some people can live.
