Where did you get your latex mattress?
Comments (8)Susan, You've only had it two years? That's VERY unusual for a properly made Latex mattress. Like all things, there are the right ways to do one, and the wrong ways. Sounds like you didn't get one done the right way. A good latex mattress is expensive. Done right, they're around $ 3K for a box and matt set. They will last a very long time, however. Its my understanding that all the high-quality latex mattresses cores come from the same production facility in Europe. Apparently there's quite an art to making one correctly and the one place that does it right has a virtual monopoly on the cores. I can't verify that, but my supplier for my latex beds told me that was the reason they're so pricey....See MoreAnyone buy a furnace recently? Did you get a receipt?
Comments (17)Where did the furnace come from? Ask him. Possible bad reasons he cannot: it's a left over unit from previous job, and has actually been in his inventory for some time. And he doesn't want you to know this. Because that means it wasn't selected for your needs, but for his. It is a scratch/dent or closeout from the distributor and non returnable. He got a good deal, and doesn't want you to know how cheap it was. For any of these reasons, he may be reluctant to show you the receipt. Neither of these are that bad, but they may not be what you ultimately would want. If one of these turns out to be the case, I think it may indicate that he was trying to get you the best price on the furnace, and that he based his work to you on this good deal on the equipment. So if you want something else, get something else, but be prepared to pay the fair difference. If you think he would respond, then consider telling him that you understand he based his price to you on the cost he could get for the furnace he chose, and the time and work and accessories it would take to correctly install it. Say you want something else, and if he will be up front with you about the costs. Use this example. If you had asked for a standard dishwasher, and then said you wanted a better one with a custom front, you would expect that he couldn't use the "builder's special deal" dishwasher to do this. The fact remains that it came from somewhere, and that distributor or source should at least be able to find out, based on serial number of the unit, when it was sold to him and then backtrack into their accounting records and get a receipt....See MoreWhere did you get your island stools ?
Comments (38)Hi, Jessie - The measurements for the LNT stools are: Seat - 9 x 17 1/2; Legs (widest part) - 14 1/2 x 17. If these are too big for you, there are similar ones at Ballard that are smaller and more squarish. I have linked those below. Well, thanks for asking about my RH Brightwood pendants. They are hung and look great, but they still don't have shades. You remember that I had gotten enclosed bell shades from Schoolhouse Electric in the 2.25 fitter size? (I wanted the enclosed shades because I was worried about the glare from exposed bulbs, since I was hanging them high above the table. RH doesn't have enclosed shades that small.) Trying to be environmentally conscious, I ordered the fixtures with the GU24 socket and 24W bulb, but did not think it through or do my research. As it turns out, I have yet to find a GU24 bulb that fits into the shade. (In fact, you have to go down to an 18W to even get a shade that will fit into a 2.25 GU24 socket, never mind the shade. RH is changing their site to not allow you to select GU24 in 2.25 fitter size with a 24W bulb.) I understand there are 13W and 9W bulbs out there, but I hate to order them without knowing the dimensions because they have mercury in them and are difficult to dispose of if they don't work, and with shipping returning them is a hassle and expensive. And these bulbs are so new that I am not finding them IRL. Plus, I am now also reading that the bulbs may not be safe with an enclosed shade! Anyway, I will keep you posted... Here is a link that might be useful: Ballard Stool...See MoreWhere would you buy a down comforter from?
Comments (34)I bought my first down "blanket" last summer from Tuesday Morning. It would probably be considered light weight. Use it alone during the summer and with a quilt during the winter. I looked at all the messages here and didn't see one person complaining of loose feathers! :o I bought two last summer...the other one is fine, no shedding. The one on our bed sheds something terrible! Feathers all over us, the floor, furniture. Feather's floating around the house. I finally took it back when someone sitting at the dining room table swatted at a feather floating in front of her face! Multiple shakings and washing haven't help. Never saw where they could be escaping. Tues. Morning replaced it. Different brand but looked just like the first. Box stitched with a faint stripe and satin binding. The replacement is just as bad! This was my first experience with goose down. Has this happened to anyone else? I've put up with it because I LOVE the blanket but I'm at the end of my rope. I'll be looking into some of these others. Monica...See MoreBoopadaboo
