I don't think you necessarily need a piece that combines both, I say just go for it. As you want to replace a piece with wood, just replace it. You can add accessories, etc. with wood, too, as you're transitioning--wood picture frames, wooden candle holders or lamps with wood bases, etc. Wicker, baskets, etc. are also ways of bringing wood tones and a wood "feel" into spaces that otherwise don't seem woodsy. You might be surprised at how these little touches can help you "unmatch" your room :)

I agree with leafy-replace the black pieces with wood pieces as you find them. I would not get pieces that are both black and wood. You can also paint some of the black pieces other colors.

I agree with all the above. Black is a great anchor for any room. So my suggestion is to keep 1 or 2 pieces.

We have a black entertainment console in our FR. All the rest of the furniture are various wood tones. It all works together well.

I've done several rooms that combine different types of wood or a combination of wood and painted pieces. I find it best to maintain about a 30/70 ratio between the two , but not 50/50 and definitely you can even add a single piece in either wood or painted, esp. if it is a larger, good quality piece of furniture. I do not think you need to find a piece that combines both. I agree that black works well to anchor a room, though can be overpowering in large doses so I would not get rid of all your pieces, but save 1-2 of your favorites.

I have a black piece of furniture in several of my rooms mixed in with wood pieces and I love the look. The wood pieces that I have are of different types too. I like the "collected over time look" rather than have everything match.

It doesn't matter what color the painted furniture is, it ALL mixes very well with stained pieces. ;o)
