I'm living in a dungeon but haven't seen any bears yet!

The problem is that my living room is on the north side of the house with only one single window and with a solid door and the exterior of the house is brick. What I would like is light in this room. It is a mediam size room with 8 foot ceiling with an overhead light/fan. I have two lamps also. I hate using the overhead light/fan and was thinking that I could use that receptable to have some type of tract lighting that wouldn't look so bad with an 8 foot ceiling. Is there tract lighting that is much like "natural light" out there in the market. My husband who is retired thinks he must do all home projects but doen't like working up in the attic because of all the fiber-glass insulation and the lack of room up there with the type of roof pitch. I would rather have the "eye ball" lights but that would require lots of work in the attic ceiling. Do you have ideas and please let me know if there is such a thing as "natural light" for my situation? Thank you so much for your thoughts.

I'll chip in with my thoughts. If you have access to specialty lighting stores or the lighting sections of big box stores, you could look at actual displays of a huge variety of different types of fixtures which will suit your situation. You may be fortunate to get the assistance of knowledgable floor managers who can give you the information you require, such as what types give the type of light you're looking for. Make sure you get someone who knows what they are talking about. You will definitely find lighting which will satisfy your requirement, and you may have to pick depending on cost.

If you are removing the fan/light and replacing it with the tract lighting you won't have to go into the attic space at all. Just remove the fan and wire the new fixture to the existing box. Very easy DIY project

For many years, there was a den of red foxes in the woods down by the creek. A pair of them used to run across my patio occasionally, at night, and scare the bejeebies out of me! Guess they kept the bunny population at near zero. In the 40+ years I've lived here, have only seen two babies for a couple of days, sitting in my front lawn and then they were gone. A tenant in a nearby rental property had a white buck that escaped a couple of times and came down to check out my Hosta buffet. The second time he came, I met the owner and invited him to dine on his choice of fried or stew, if his rabbit escaped again. It never came back.

I remember the days before I-Village bought the gardening website. We had a guy called "Spike" who would send us to Disneyland link if he didn't like the tone of our messages. One fellow posted too many pics "hosta of the day" that inspired our friend Papou to take notes on his new beds, and that fellow Hank Zumach was banned. That was back about 2001, I think. Where would one go to suggest pinned threads? I cannot find a moderator link for Tamara. I never got an answer when I repeatedly reported a spammer on the bathroom forum that took up more than whole page of posts for a few days within the last week or so? I've been here a long time. Too long, I guess. I have seen the FAQ first set up, then updated, but now much of that info is out of date. This is where I am at, DH seeÂs us remodeling kitchen in three or more years and I see us remodeling our kitchen in the next year or earlier. So, Right now I am more in the process of elimination as far as cabinet brands go. Many earlier brands have been eliminated due to size issues as in I want and need deeper and taller wall cabinets and prefer little to no fillers. Also, cost has been a big factor. I have a basic idea of layout but need help in changing the nook area and windows. Some appliances will be reused but we will replace refrigerator with the kichenaid 42" built-in French door paneled and replace the microwave with the adventium. I have the countertop narrowed down to three or four and know exactly what I want for the backsplash, still unsure of wall splash behind stove though. The kitchen sink has been narrowed down to two choices and cab hardware to three. I know what I want for lighting but havenÂt found exactly the right one, I will know it when I see it. Still tossing around the idea of wood range hood verses stainless. The doors of my dreams are simple $$$applied moulding but with most likely end up with nice raised panel for style of home. Husband thinks I spend way too much time thinking of and planning for the kitchen.

Thank you Lavender... Just loved your idea about the continue countertop in the DOL. I think it could make the oven cabinet look a little more hutch like. I think I could be far more creative with the cabinetry layout but I worked too much on this the last couple of days. need a break. i did work on the fridge elevation as well. I am going to post. would love your opinion and anyone else's if people aren't completely sick of my project! Two are with a window and two are without. Two are with the X cabinets, two are with regular cabinets. Either way I see the cabinet above the sink being shallower in depth than the others. Thanks for looking.

Are you sure you really want natural-like light? If you do, the way to go is either linear or compact fluorescent lamps with a 5000K or 6500K color temperature and a CRI of 82 or higher. Don't waste your money on "full spectrum" lamps, they are essentially the same thing with a higher price tag.

But make sure you look at some before you buy. They produce a very cold light.

Maybe what you really want is something like this.

PS - Dungeons have bears? ;-)
