We haven't seen ours in a while, either. Yet the squirrels have certainly been fruitful and multiplied...

I still have one in the yard. Chipmunks but no squirrels.

I read somehere that eastern cottontail (Assuming that's what they are) most baby rabbits don't live longer than a year. Something tells me it isn't as easy as it looks being a rabbit.

The wabbits are back. In force. Eating my lawn.

Just thought you'd all like to know that they did not go extinct from the drought. Unfortunately.

They're everywhere here. The dog chases them instead of trying to get the regular squirrels.

I did see a flying squirrel the other day, though!

OMG Quirky!.....That video is unreal. Think they land on their feet like cats?? I'm going to imagine they do so I don't feel so bad for laughing.

I wonder if that was many squirrels falling for the trap or just one really stupid squirrel over and over?? Maybe he's an adrenaline junkie.

For many years, there was a den of red foxes in the woods down by the creek. A pair of them used to run across my patio occasionally, at night, and scare the bejeebies out of me! Guess they kept the bunny population at near zero. In the 40+ years I've lived here, have only seen two babies for a couple of days, sitting in my front lawn and then they were gone. A tenant in a nearby rental property had a white buck that escaped a couple of times and came down to check out my Hosta buffet. The second time he came, I met the owner and invited him to dine on his choice of fried or stew, if his rabbit escaped again. It never came back.

I saw two of them in my back yard last night. This year I am not planting any pansies, because last season they totally eliminated the flowers I put in a ground the day before.
Maybe in tall containers I will plant some - they are so colorful and happy, nice to see during cold winter days. Rabbits were munching on the container flowers as well last year by lifting themselves up and enjoying the delicacies...

I agree with you - have never seen as many squirrels as these days. It looks like someone just unlocked the cages where millions of them were residing - and here they are - in my subdivision playing and doing their squirrel' things.

I believe rabbits are wiser then we give them credit for, and munch freely on juicy greenery which does contain lots of water.

I set a havahart trap last night and didn't catch anything.
