Comments (7)Cute little wormy! He's a good guy. Seedmama, I didn't know you were a "Sand Sister"!! I live in a swale in between 2 massive sand dunes. I'm pretty sure I prefer the sand to growing in Chicago clay, but if I didn't have deer eating half of what does like sand, I would be happier....See MoreHaven't posted in a while, wanted to check in
Comments (6)Glad to hear from you kathi!Winter sowing can keep you busy, I did winter sow last year but nothing this year.Well tell your brug babies to hold on a little bit more cause spring is almost here. With my brug seeds I have noticed that after they come up and on any given day that we have had warm temps I put them outside for the days that it is warm and this helps them so much more than just light from inside the house. Good Luck with the rest of your seeds. Hi dweeb!Good to see you around, hope all is well in your neck of the woods:0) Rigo...See MoreHi again, haven't posted in a while.
Comments (35)Oh no, (blush) I have LOTS of long needles upstairs in my sewing room. Why didn't I think of that? Oh my,,,thanks for the reminder !!!!! This is the mix I use: equal parts Miracle Grow and Perlite. And I find it works pretty good, so I don't think it is the mix. I just think it is that darn algae that starts the process. Although I can't account for the drying of the wicks. Now that confounds me. Weird. I am going to start replacing the wicks as soon as I go UPSTAIRS and get my looooong needle. lol. Thanks for THAT reminder !!!! Perle, you should have seen me trying to soap my one hand to gently "wash" the wick hanging out of the pot! And then rinsing it. But that doesn't get the algae off. I though it would be ok,,,,but nope. Not so much. And I usually managed to pull the wick almost, if not all the way out anyway! sigh,,,a real exercise in futility !!!! Comments (9)Wow, they sure can hold their breath! Since it's dry but not hot here (don't understand why, but it's very pleasant), I've been using this weather to do my annual clean and sterilizing of my hydro system. I had some of the parts soaking in a disinfectant solution in the big reservoir tank and I came in about an hour ago to deal with other matters while they got on with it. Went back out just now and a poor little brown anole was floating belly up in the tank, looking very dead (and stupid, since my hose leaks, so there's always water on the ground about six feet away from where the tank is now). I flipped him out and to my surprise he rolled over, lifted his head, and started breathing like a fat man who just ran a mile uphill. He sat there for several minutes, shook his head, and took off after another lizard....See Moreberkeleysgr8
