Your pieces look fine to me. The only thing that's a bit off is what you didn't mention.

The lamp is too small for your white table. You need something higher.

I would put a big box, basket, something, etc under the table to hide the outlet.

I agree, your accessories are fine...however, the lamp is too small for the console table. First hang the clock. Then, as far as a lamp, go with something taller to balance and anchor that large clock. Right now, the vase seems to be the dominant piece on the table.

Those Chinese Lantern flowers can be made to work beautifully in that glass hurricane, if they are cut down and spread out with a few filler pieces.

I have Chinese Lanterns in my transferware crock. I also used some fall leaves and berries to add depth, and I cut down the stems to varying heights. Since your vase is clear, you may want to put some Spanish moss or something around the stems once you get it arranged if they don't look great through the glass.

If you are adding this as fall decor, you may want to wrap a piece of fabric or paper around your candle (mine is flameless battery operated) for color to have it blend with the vase and flowers.

Your flowers need some marbles in their container to stand them up straight. I'd get another bunch (or take 1/2 of what is there), and then make them smaller (yes, cut them!), to make it fuller. Also, I'd trade the lamps/stuff on each table. Smaller lamp to the smaller table, the bigger lamp to the bigger table.... The longer table needs another layer or two. It's scale screams for more under/above it.

You're getting there, you just need to do more. Great color choices, incidentally. I really like the blues.

Thanks to both of you! How about if I put this shiny lamp on that table and move the smaller lamp to the table by the chair? The table by the chair in this photo is not actually the one there now. The one there now is actually much smaller and fits right next to it.

I love the Chinese Lantern flowers, you just need more of them, or add some other things, leaves, etc. to make it fuller (see my3dogs arrangement). I like the look of the stoneware as well as opposed to the hurricane. Do you have any type of stoneware vase for those flowers. It would also go better with the piece you have sitting on the floor next to the table. How about a harvest colored pillar rather than the white?

Agree the lamp is a bit too small for that piece.

My3dogs - I love your arrangement. I have seen it on other threads and it is so beautiful. Pier One had some berries that would have paired beautifully with the lanterns. I'll have to go buy some and see how they work. I wasn't really planning on this arrangement just being for fall. I love the color orange (in moderation), and really need some color in my LR. That pillar was going bye-bye, but i do have some raffia that I could wrap around it and maybe find something for the pillar to sit on.

I must find something to go underneath. We are a young couple starting off, so I'm gradually adding as I go. However, I have always collected family pieces knowing that someday I would have a home I could display them in. I am wracking my brain though, trying to figure out WHAT could go underneath there that I already have. I'm not a basket kind of girl, but maybe a basket and load it up with pillars of varying heights and some sort of filler in it as well?

I do have pillars of more "harvest" colors that I will switch out for the white. I was lucky enough to work for a product design firm fresh out of collage, and I benefited from returned merchandise and/or damaged packaging.

I love the suggestions everyone is giving so far. I agree you have a great start! Can't wait to see the "new" bigger lamp tried out here. I adore those chinese lanterns. I am going to get me some! As for underneath the table, I was thinking maybe a storage bench, possibly wicker, that you could store seasonal items or even accessories and such for changing them out. Hey, you could even add a throw or pillows on top of the bench to give it a pop of color too and add to the height to cover the plug in. Then if you need extra pillows or throws, there they are. Just a thought!

One thing that hasn't been addressed is the table itself. Because of the sunken-top design anything sitting on it is going to loose height. Me.......I'd probably have a piece of glass cut to fit the top so I could show off the accessories better. If you can't do the glass, then elevate your major piece with some books.

I really like the small lamp with that table (would use a different shade) but agree with slinky that it's overpowered by the hurricane.

I live in Jacksonville, IL, which isn't exactly brimming with cute shops, but I am going to go out at lunch and see if I can't find something to go underneath the table. I agree, something needs to go.

Off the top of my head, I have a large, dark, wooden mango-wood bowl that I might fill with something and try to find a place for. I don't know if it's too big for the table.

I used to have a HUGE glass cylinder/hurricane, but for some reason, I sold it in a garage sale (silly, Keri!).

I just remembered...I have a "tuffet" stool that would fit perfectly underneath that table. It is hard to describe, so I'll take a picture with it underneath the table tonight and post tomorrow.

And I like the idea of having glass cut to fit teh top of the table. We might do that eventually, but I'll probably boost it with books or something in the meantime.

I agree with Annz that the sunken table top may be part of the problem. I've gone to second hand stores for old hardback books to stack up and add height on my shelves/tables. Sad that I don't actually have enough books to use of my own!! Also, (and keep in mind that I am somewhat decorator challenged myself) are all of these pics of the same room? My question is whether or not there are conflicting colors/styles? Warms/cools, dark tables/white table. This may be completely OK and I understand not wanting to be matchy but just wondered if it is too "blended"?

twingirlsmom - I completely get what you're saying. The blue picture above is my dining room. and it's really much lighter than the picture above shows. Just a hint of blue. The walls in the LR is BM Cameo white, and is a very pale yellow/cream.

I dislike the small, dark table that I have, but I *have* it and will use it until I find something I like better. I love round end tables, and am going to try to find something that will work. I am a weird non-decorator. I love pairing antique items with more modern items.

I desperately need an entertainment center or a differnt media console, because what I have just isn't working. Regardless, I need to ditch the black speakers on either side and maybe paint the console table?
