I think the first one will look best with your chandelier. Its got some bling, but the metal itself is plain. The second one is just too decorated and the last one is too modern.

I think the first two are too boob-light-y. Third is nice.

I think your foyer light is elegantly understated, so I'd do the same in your hall, rather than up-blinging (don't think that's an actual word, but you get the idea).

This VC fixture has always been a favorite; they have it in a star pattern, also, which I like even better.

I have the one Dee just posted. Love it. Classic and understated.

Tib, I love it in bronze too. The burnished brass was perfect for my room but the bronze is lovely.

SNB, if you like the light that I have in bronze I can tell you that the quality is outstanding and the way the glass radiates the light is beautiful.

Yes, it's nice in the bronze. For hall, and to compliment the foyer chandy, I like the second one I posted. Unique but understated, and it has the curves in the metal that would compliment the chandy, IMO.

Hey tibbrix, that one you posted at 10:32 would always have me wondering which monarch was doing head stands in the attic and fell thru.

rgps, and who wouldn't want THAT in their house??? I'd love a light that allows me to envision a monarch upside down in my atticâ¦or second floor, as the case may be.

Wow, Boop. That's the one rgps thinks looks like a monarch fell through the ceiling. I'm not a bling-y person, but I really like it in your old room! And you're right, the indentation of the flush mount makes it not a boob light.

Tibbrix- Of the ones you posted, I like the light that holly-kay has the best. My concern is that it might be too high, I have 16" to the top of the door you see in the hall (which leads to the basement).

I like the 1st one you posted or the one that tibbrix posted at 10:35, although that one might be too large...(H wise)

By the pic of your hallway, my gut says Holly's light is too big overall. I just love the one at 10:30. 8-3/4" drop. Surprised it hasn't been received better. I think it's perfect.

SNB the light that I have is 14.5" wide and 13" tall. So you can easily open the door. Mine is burnished brass and it is made of solid brass. I am not sure but probably the bronze is also brass but with a bronzed finish. I will see if I can find out. I bought it from the Lighting New York website. They gave me a discount on it.

I just checked the LNY website and the bronze finish is also solid brass. It truly is a lovely light.

The message most of these give is that they are more important than the foyer light. The hallway is pretty short and kitchen in view is modest, so keep it simple. No crystals. I've searched and haven't found any that thrill me yet. What size light do you need? Are there other metal colors that might work? Bronze would look nice with the stairs. I think that's one of the things Tib likes about her choice, but it's too Victorian IMO.

Given that you can see two chandys from that second view, I would probably just put a can light there.

Errant, I was just about to post the same thing. I'm not one to shy in the face of excess but in this case I think simpler is better. And cheaper.

Maybe someone already said this, but I think they make kits that make it pretty easy to retrofit a can in now. My vote too.

This light is simple yet more interesting than your current light. Just a thought.

If you can replace that fixture, you can install a "remodel" can light. They are much more simple than you'd think.

Here are a couple of pics of my light. In my former home it was in my front entry. Now it is the upstairs light. The pics aren't fab as the space is very small but you get the idea. I do like the idea of a can light in your hall as well.

Unless you don't mind cleaning a clear glass shade or one with crystals every other week, I would not that kind. We have a semi flush full glass and it needs constant cleaning. No smokers or pets here either.

debi_2006, good point about the glass shade, I definitely don't want to be cleaning it constantly.
