By my suggestions I'm not purporting to have worked out all the issues. I'm just suggesting some changes -- as an example -- that I think would make it a more organized and easier to "read" landscape. Probably the main thing I'd do is massage the circle drive to being more in front of the house, which would make it look like it is the main entrance point/path for the house. I think its position relative to the house is more important than it being a perfect "D"-shape. Even if planted plainly, which I don't think is the intention, the bed lines going to look distracting. Smoother bed lines would be easier to view and easier to maintain. You could still fill the beds themselves with all kinds of plant excitement ... even busying it up if that's what you like, but it would still look more civilized if the bed lines are clean and simple. The same principle applies for walks. They will seem less distracting to the overall flow if they are simple of curve. Again, I'm just trying to give you an example. You could evolve the plan many times over according to your latest thoughts and parameters. It's an ambitious plan. Good luck on implementing it as it would be an awesome transformation.

Anodized aluminum or with kynar is long lasting and can be great for any weather environment.

Regarding the shutters - it's not the color of the shutters - it's that the windows are too wide. Shutters are supposed to look functional even if they aren't functional. They are supposed to look like they can cover the window on which they are placed. They never go on bay windows or triple windows unless they are Bahama type shutters which would be inappropriate for your area and inappropriate for your house. Your house isn't Victorian and would look so much better with an MCM type door or a solid door. The reason others are suggesting a light color for your door is that a brown door creates the "black hole" effect on the face of your house. It's hard to visualize if you are accustomed to seeing the brown, brown, brown that you currently show. There are other neutral, but lighter paints so your front door becomes visible. I agree that the landscaping you have now buries the house and doesn't bring out it's features. I hope you end up with a good landscape plan. Reach out to the landscape forum here too. Cute house but I'm not quite clear on what you want exactly for your front door other than a wood colour, your mention modern style so I presume you are changing it to a steel door. Below I show one available at Home Depot in a chocolate brown, I find the style fits with the style of your windows. I'm also showing a railing that would give your porch a finishing touch along with a nice large black lantern style sconce. Maybe you can install a fence along the side of your carport to hide the garbage cans etc. that can be seen now in your picture. A perennial (not much maintenance) flower bed on the right and flowerbox with same type of flowers along the patio (seems to be asphalt there now) would complete the look.
