Anyhow ever 'aged' an art print?

Somewhere I remember reading about how to make a cardboard art print look like an old oil painting. Today I picked up a vintage cardboard print of a Hudson River Art School landscape. It came with a really nice (albeit plastic) frame that I intend to do a faux "gilded" finish on. But I'd really love to somehow antique the print. I did a google search and did read one method that involved painting over it with a mix of tinted Mod Podge. I only paid a couple of dollars for the print, so I'm not too worried about ruining it--just looking for to experiment on creating a "fake". (Oh, how I'd love to have an original Hudson River painting!) Thanks!
