Can you make your own lamp?
Comments (2)As one who has tried to do stuff like this in the past, I'll stick my 2 cents in. I have no idea whether you could find or have made an arched steel tube like that. If you did, you'd still have make a base, attach a socket and the shade to the tube, wire it, etc. All that will cost you something, and $250 is the limit, right (with the price of the shade). I say if you love the lamp, spend the money and get it, or try to find it at a discount. The one you make will most likely not look as good as the original, and you've still spent $200 for the shade. Of course, you could make a hanging lamp from the shade, there are kits and parts for that. good luck, steve...See Morelooking for a CORDLESS table lamp that isn't ugly

Comments (11)One of the antique stores I went to today had a booth with custom shades similar to this: I finished loading the pics onto my blog, and had the bright idea to copy the code here, but when I did, they were enormous. I can load them onto photobucket if anyone would prefer to see just pictures without dialog. I also put a poll on the blog if anyone has an opinion but doesn't feel like doing any more than just clicking a button. What I explained there was that I bought a shorter harp and after seeing several shades, decided they would all look better with it. I also described the colors of everything & gave some options there, and I don't really want to rewrite the whole thing here. I thought I was posting this to the small house forum, but had both windows opened and didn't notice it was the decorating forum. I'd move it if I could as I know most here don't like links to blogs, but since I can't, you can either ignore the blog link or ask me to put the pics on photobucket. Hope you understand....See MoreShould I get a cordless lamp instead?
Comments (18)Thanks for everyone’s comments. I should mention I am planning on installing a large chandelier in the room - just haven’t picked it yet. Also, eventually , I will probable put the two chairs yous see next to eachother facing the window and put two light colored x benches facingthe chairs. Perhaps at that point I will put this side table in between the chairs and get a larger side table next to rhe couch, but currently the scale doesn’t bother me....See Morewayne440
