Working with Cable TV wire

Hi,

Making progress on our basemnet remodel project, thanks to all the great help in this site.

We have a Cable TV wire that comes down the house, is attached to a outside splitter. One wire leads off to another room which I dont care about, the other wire comes into the basement.

Now, what we wish to do, is if its possible, is to run another piece of cable from this wire to another wall of the room, so we can possble have 2 placemnet options for a tv. Do we have to use another splitter? Is it possible to have the existing wire come into a box with some sort of outlet, and the take the new wire and run in into the same box without a splitter? I hope I am making myself clear.

In essence what I am trying to avoid is, another splitter inside the house, if possible, and have 2 outlets where we can plug the tv into.
