BM losing power?

I feel like sometimes this is a Dr. Jekyll, Mr. Hyde thing. Lately, BM has been complaining that SD is not listening to her, acting up, talking back etc. SD is almost 5. There are somethings that we even find hard to believe.

When she's with us, we have to go through an initial debrief on what's not accepted. She whines A LOT with BM and throws tantrums but generally knows we don't play that at our house. but again, once she leaves us, its back to the bad behavior. Its gotten increasingly worse for BM and I don't know what to do. I think that secretly, SO feels good about her being so good with him, that he doesn't have problems with it, and i wonder if any of that is picked up on. Clearly, she wants to be with her dad more and needs him. BM, is easily manipulated by SD and has said that SD doesn't listen because she's not an intimidating man... I've never had much problem with her and I'm not a man either! So what's really going on and how can we fix this.

Sometimes she has to call to talk to her dad in order to calm down and he might read her a story over the phone. My concern is that if he makes that a regular thing, that it will take even more power away from BM.

It does seep over into our interactions but she is quickly corrected and doesn't really try to manipulate or act out with us.

I don't know how many of you have experienced something like this, I just don't want her treating any adult poorly especially her own mother. I hope that somehow we can work through this and help her understand that you don't disrespect adults.
