What do you think of this room for my girls? (pics)

I found this room on pinterist and I want to copy it for my girls room. Luckily, the person who did it posted where she got everything as well as the color of paint on the walls so it will be easy to do! I was thinking of painting the ceiling pink. Do you think that would be to much? Would it be better left as white? What about the rug shown in the picture? Do you like it with the room or would something else look better? Thx!!

I like the room too. I can't say I am crazy about the rug though.

Hi sandra christie, your last picture looks like a perfect mixture to me. The others looked a little too course and you wouldn't get good contact with the greens and browns if that's true. Keep the whole pile damp like a wrung out sponge and turn it every so often and that stuff will shrink, get loaded with worms and turn into the black gold we all crave here - that's after it heats up and breaks down some. Of course we've got winter to drag through and compost slows down considerably over the cold months. Hang in there, you're on the right track.

I forgot to mention that I travel with an 8 year old boy! Do you mind if he tags along? He would love that pool! Your house is so wonderful, I'm so glad that you took the time to post pictures. I can only imagine the work involved but thank goodness you didn't tear it down! As for the chandelier, yeah, it may not matter what you put there! But, if you want to stay with that cottage cape cod feel consider finding something with more visual weight, and not so many lines. A lantern could be perfect. I don't know if you've ever seen the Currey and Co chandeliers? I love to go to their site just to look at their products, even when i'm not really shopping. This particular chandelier caught my eye for your room. Somethign simple, with some visual weight, although I'm not crazy about the black for your room. But maybe this will spark some ideas... I have a few faux wood pieces that I painted and made fit in my Prim country decor. All I do is prime with Kilz and put on like 3 coats of paint to be sure that it's covered well. That's usually about it. If you want extra protectionn, you can seal it with varnish or poly or something like that. Just painting the piece will look totally different...

What a nice room to work with. Love the wall color and all the windows. I think your choices are great - what color carpet/rug will you choose? Is it to go over the existing carpet or do you have wood underneath? Is there room on the sides of the fireplace windows for draperies without covering too much of the windows, or would you hang only on one side? The blinds look like a great choice, too. The painting would work, but my own choice, since it's a room used by children, would be to make it colorful and more fun.

I actually like the rug because it reminds me of tree branches. Do you know what the paint color is?

Nosoccermom, the color on the walls is BM iced green. I still cant decide on the rug...

Very cute! Like almost everything.

Not a fan of the zebra rug at all. Looks like it came from another space where they no longer wanted to use it.

I would do the ceiling the same color as the wall color. I think the white ceiling (or a coral pink one) cuts off the room - if it were the same color as the walls, the ceiling would disappear. You could also run the tree up onto the ceiling just a bit, again to blur the visual line between walls and ceiling.

Les, I do love the idea of painting the ceiling the same blue. I have this weird thing with ceilings/walls. I have to either have them be the same color, or, if they aren't the same color I have to have crown molding up or I don't like how it looks. If I leave the ceilings white, crown will be going up.
