What do you think of this chandelier for my dining room?
I have been spending way too much time trying to find a chandelier for my dining room. I'm the most indecisive person, and have been from a to z on this, but I'm about to pull the trigger and order this chandelier. It is very different than what I first started off thinking I liked 2 weeks ago...
I don't have a current picture of the finished room (because it is not finished!!) but I have the picture of the room when the previous owner owned it. I like the green and will be painting it very close to this color. My table and chairs are much nicer (imho)! LOL
House is a historic home, 1937 on bayfront property. Has a vintage, cottage feel...
and here is the chandelier... yes ?? or should I keep looking or go in a totally different direction?

Comments (15)Dang, I didn't come back to the thread to check and I've got the wrong piece over the piano! Anyway, I'd think it would be too small for your fp. Here it is at 36x24 over the piano. Too small but you could certainly flank it with a couple other pieces. Then I sized what I thought looked like a good size over the piano, at this room angle. As of now, without sitting on it, I do think I like the third one best, quite large, although that would depend on the fp wall as you don't want to dominate your focal. It does make a really nice vignette with your chairs, and I think it looks really pretty in your room, right on target. So, I'd get it regardless of where it ends up. The frame would be a fabulous price just in itself. I see it's still out there. The tapestry is gone, though. Hopefully you picked that one up. So, even though times have changed already! here's something to look at as food for thought. Oops! And the main reason I ps'd this was to move your chairs! lol. The one on the right, esp, needs to move out and away from the piano more. I'd also shift the fp one to the left a bit if you can. The piano needs to breathe more, and so do the chairs, I think. From the pic and plan, they would still seem close enough for conversation. I also tried to angle the fp one a little more inwards. I do love that ottoman there. Comments (32)I agree that the one you like may not be as good for something you will leave in a resale. The difference in price on the other one may simply be a result of the way they adjust prices from time to time (like Amazon) and it is still picking up two listings. I've seen that before -- sometimes the same price and sometimes not. Comments (26)Busybee3, I too lovet the PB one the best but the more I look at it I like the 1) one in the lantern style also. One thing I am considering is may be get the PB one and try it if it does not work in entry way I need a light fixture for my dinning also I can use it there? the only concern with doing that is the dinning only is 8 ft celing and this may be a bit too tall for that area? I need to make this decsion fast we will be having my brothers family visting the week of christmas and new year and also hosting christamas party at out house so need to decide soon. Comments (23)Thank you, prepmom. They do get a bit dirty but it's not really noticeable unless you're looking closely. Only 1 end chair gets regular use by DH, so I switch them out once in awhile. If he's particularly grungy from working outside I throw a sheet or towel over the chair if I'm around to catch him before he sits down! I take them to the dry cleaners every 6 months or so, but have them wet clean them because drycleaning didn't seem to help with some stains. I think I'm going to start cleaning them myself, starting with an Oxy soak in the bathtub, and maybe just take them in for pressing if needed. I hate ironing! Here's another view that shows the side chairs better. They have lines similar to one of your choices. Those slips wash easily in my washer and dryer and still look new after several years. Okay... I think I am in style confusion!! I obviously have a lot to learn... but after reading andrea's francoise and kswl's comments... I googled "nantucket & cape cod cottage" it is a look I love! I do however find that I gravitate a lot to the french country feel, which I think my dining room furniture looks like. It's not that old, and I planed on keeping it a while... but maybe it looks at of place? Too french country?
I definitely think I need to stick with you all while I decorate, but I do hope to re-purpose some of my furniture. I did give away 3 boxes of decorations to my sisters, and I have pictures that I just feel aren't going to work (as well as lamps!)

You all asked for a pictures of our home, I just snapped some this morning to share. I will only share with you all, because you're online!! LOL... there is still MUCH left to unpack, paint and final details (like light covers, door knobs!!) I have restored ALL the hardware - the door knobs are all brass and crystal knobs. Some doors are not hanging because they off and in my workshop, waiting for me to finish stripping, sanding and painting!
It's been a real labor of love... we have done 90% ourselves.

Thanks everyone, I love hearing you all love the house! When we were buying it... our Realtor thought we should know it down and build new. Actually - that is probably what someone would have done.... except us, or I should say me!! DH doesn't love the house, maybe it's all the work that needs to be done to fully restore it, so when others love my house like I do... it makes me smile!! I LOVE this house!
Andrea, pack your bags girl.. it's a deal!! You can even have the back bedroom, which I didn't take a picture of.... but it have a window that looks out to the bay AND pool!!

Andrea will have a fight on her hands for that back bedroom, Tinker! I absolutely LOVE your new home. It reminds me of the old Florida cottage style houses on the bay in Tampa. It is wonderful, and someone has already done a sensitive and beautiful kitchen restoration at some point. I'm with you---why tear down that charming jewel of a home---which has withstood many hurricanes, obviously---and replace it with a hulking big stucco house that won't have half the character?
I am still not sure the first light is exactly right, to me, but the second one looks more New England than Florida. I have no idea the direction you're planning to take with your house, French Country furnishings would look great and the dining room furniture looks appropriate and beautiful in your DR, but if it were me choosing fixtures I would put in something a tiny bit more rustic. I think a lantern is a great idea. Here are some pretty lights from the company I mentioned above, just to look at. (The one with the shades looks like it might go with the period nature of the built ins, sort of a twenties look :) )

Your home is beautiful and I can't believe how much work you have done. I am glad I don't have to pick a chandelier for you because they are all so pretty and they would all look great in your DR.
