What do you think of this chandelier for my dining room?
Comments (53)I forgot to mention that I travel with an 8 year old boy! Do you mind if he tags along? He would love that pool! Your house is so wonderful, I'm so glad that you took the time to post pictures. I can only imagine the work involved but thank goodness you didn't tear it down! As for the chandelier, yeah, it may not matter what you put there! But, if you want to stay with that cottage cape cod feel consider finding something with more visual weight, and not so many lines. A lantern could be perfect. I don't know if you've ever seen the Currey and Co chandeliers? I love to go to their site just to look at their products, even when i'm not really shopping. This particular chandelier caught my eye for your room. Somethign simple, with some visual weight, although I'm not crazy about the black for your room. But maybe this will spark some ideas... Here is a link that might be useful: Currey and Co chandelier...See MoreCan't sleep - I think I may hate my newly finished floors (PICS)
Comments (50)I am in exactly the same place with my red oak floors :( my floors look just as orange as in the pictures... and the variations and wood grain are much more pronounced than I wanted. I have the flooring company coming in on Monday to put down the third coat of poly - do I have any options at this point? Or just a matter of it mattering less once I get more used to the new color...? I had this same level of shock and discomfort with my wall color (had to leave my apartment for the evening just to soothe myself!), but once they sanded the floors - I realized I loved the wall color, just that my old floor finish was clashing with it. Now after staining the floor - I am back to feeling they really clash... and I really wish I had just opted for no stain and a natural finish instead... I’d take that look over what I now have any day. At least - that’s how it feels right now. To the original poster - @lacollar - (or anyone else with a similar experience) - did you eventually get used to (or even fall in love with?! :)) your floors... even though at first it felt like the choice of stain color was a huge mistake? Has anyone tried tinting the final coat to tone down the orange/reds? Does that work? Appreciate any help/advice. Thank you all!...See MoreI think I hate my new dining room chairs ...
Comments (43)Change the chair seats, the LIGHT add curtains, Add a rug.......It isn't decorated yet!! Do the table switch last........ The light is Hubbardton Forge, The rug is an 8 x 10 charcoal sisal , 225.00 There's a lot of junk in tables, with finishes that will not hold up. .............switch the table last. Or paint what you have, to a soft black top, and white base. This is a minefield category of junkola out there. Comments (116)I love the slabs you are looking at. Beth is great at this and has very good taste and knows her color schemes! I too like the tempest with the stone and cabinet choice but it has what you like best. Just because we all think it looks great does not mean you love it. Maybe you do need to look at more. Look at all of Beth's beautiful pictures. You want to be sure and you should LOVE your choice. I just went through this myself and this house we are building will most likely be my last (scary thought) so I understand where you are coming from. Get the stone that you jump at immediately and love. Maybe Beth and AJCN can fly out and come with you :)...See MoreAc Lb
