What do you think of this dining table? Pics!
Comments (23)Redroze-I love the weathered look of the RH tables but some of their furniture tends to be massive. A few good things about the PB table is that it is 38" wide, and extends to seat 10. I'm not crazy about the legs but overall it seems to have what I need. If I could find it in reclaimed wood for the same price that would be perfect! Thanks for your opinion about the white. I think different shades of white in a room isn't matchy matchy as much as if it were the exact same color of white and same lines. Segbrown-Please excuse my mess in the following pic! The walls are camouflage by benjamin moore (never mind the swatches next to the window-and everything is painted now). I actually hired a color consultant and she convinced me to keep it (I wasn't liking it) and to add layers: pictures, accessories, etc. It is a hint green. Here is another shot of it so you can see how it really changes depending on the lighting and the room it's in. I'm not crazy about it in our dining room. I think it looks muddy. Just FYI here is a pic!...See MoreWhat do you think 2014 will bring for home design/decor?
Comments (18)Chris, your house is so "you" that if you gave me 100 manufactured homes on country lots in the middle of the US, I could pick yours out on my first tour, just from having enjoyed your photos. 20 years after you are gone, Idahoans will be trading beauteous glass-covered furniture, toilets, and whatnots in art galleries and flea markets and remembering (or wondering) what the story was behind their find! I rather like the orchid color, if you tone it down to about 15%! I have never been a trend follower, but on a lark, I just may paint one wall in our main hall, behind my Carmel Foret Pansey print, a violet. I have to scare up the fabric I bought to glue to my wood blind and see if it matches. I have a wood blind for the end of the hall, where it meets the foyer. Our foyer faces the bedrooms. We scurry across that hall to get to the bathroom in our skivvies. So I got a blind from a clearance bin at Lowes. It hangs up high, out of sight of the foyer, unless I lower it. Trouble is, if the lights are on behind the blind, one could see through it a bit. So I bought fabric to glue to the inside of it. My favorite choice had violet. I think I ended up with my second choice. Does anybody else spend an hour at Joanns, then go home and never actually DO the projects you dreamed up for yourself while you were there "saving money" on all those sale items? No one is building that much around here yet to judge trends. I think there are a whole new class of working class folks doing service jobs who will never own a home, though. Younger people hate carpets. My 28 yo niece thinks my linoleum is wonderful and calls them "cork" no matter how many times I tell her that cork is one ingredient, but fully cork floors are different. I think that solid surface floors of any kind will help you sell in the future. People see carpet as filthy now....See MoreWhat do you think of this chandelier for my dining?
Comments (32)I agree that the one you like may not be as good for something you will leave in a resale. The difference in price on the other one may simply be a result of the way they adjust prices from time to time (like Amazon) and it is still picking up two listings. I've seen that before -- sometimes the same price and sometimes not. I would just check the listing details on the page you are ordering from to make sure it doesn't show the wrong photo for a different size or finish....See MoreDining room furniture - what do you think?
Comments (23)Thank you, prepmom. They do get a bit dirty but it's not really noticeable unless you're looking closely. Only 1 end chair gets regular use by DH, so I switch them out once in awhile. If he's particularly grungy from working outside I throw a sheet or towel over the chair if I'm around to catch him before he sits down! I take them to the dry cleaners every 6 months or so, but have them wet clean them because drycleaning didn't seem to help with some stains. I think I'm going to start cleaning them myself, starting with an Oxy soak in the bathtub, and maybe just take them in for pressing if needed. I hate ironing! Here's another view that shows the side chairs better. They have lines similar to one of your choices. Those slips wash easily in my washer and dryer and still look new after several years. All the fabric is ivory linen....See Morepopmama (Colorado, USDA z5)
