I have exactly the same problem. The landscape fabric and all the dirt/mulch is growing weeds like crazy but I can't grow anything pretty or productive. Also, my back yard is catch basin for the streets around me and now this yard is a puddle 9 months of the year. I'm sick of it! I have to work around some bushes and rocks so a tiller is a hard no. It's going to be a long hard slog. I think I'll just remove some of the rough edges for now, and pierce some spots with an old-fashioned long-handled grampa weeder for planting things with shallow root systems. Will probably take me several summers of back-breaking work to remove this poorly executed mistake.

Oh, dear, have I been in your shoes exactly. Here is what I did in a house about fifteen years ago and I am getting ready to do something really similar now because I am wearing the same shoes again, so to speak! You may not like it. It absolutely looked fantastic. It's nothing earth shatteringly "new", but you could adapt it to work for you. And my project looked professional and great. Everyone wanted to know who made my toppers, too. I used a jeweled tone Windex blue silk solid and cotton sateen print to make boxed pleat window toppers with wooden rings that I hand sewed on. I used the silk for about a 3"~4" band at the top and inside the box pleats for a tease of color, as well as, made a small band of the blue silk piping all along the edges instead of using the typical, expected fringes. I wanted my chandelier to be the focus and the print. It turned out great. Make sure your piping is not too thick or thin. Just enough color to make it look custom. I then painted a 1 1/4" wooden pole to match my wall color, burnished it with some 'brass' rub or antique gold spray. Did the same for the rings. I hollowed out enough of a Styrofoam ball the size of a baseball or so to fit on each end of the wooden pole and covered it with the silk using a little Tacky Glue and straight pins to hold it together. One end is permanently glued on, the other is fed on... Then put the topper up with 4"~5" 'L' brackets (depending on what size balls you buy; you can buy brackets at HD or Lo's. It's a neat, creative, custom look. I would go with the exact color match. It will look like you know what in the heck you're doing. Especially if you make your project a little more complicated. Simple is just that... comes across as too simple sometimes. My suggestion is also simple, but really looks dynamic. You do not have to use wooden poles or Styrofoam balls, but the wooden rings look great. Even repainting a metal pole... is amazing. Spray paint is really something. Get the double coating stuff, then use a rub in different toppings. Pearle-scents, brasses, antiques, silvers, etc. Amazing what can happen when you paint something white and you add brass rub to it, or grey-green/olive and you add brass. AMAZING results, every time.

Davidro-lol, so true! I actually thought this morning when I saw the dirty dishes that my kids and DH had so kindly stacked in the sink for me, "And why exactly did I want a larger one?" Jilljohn-But at least you have the other half of the sink to use! But it's okay...I'm slowly getting used to it. A 9" sink? I'm trying to picture that! I don't really think that is something that buyers notice when touring homes, so hopefully you won't have to replace it. I think we're going to keep it. I do now have a garbage disposal where I did not before, so I'm pretty pleased with that. :)

Where was the laser template? At that point you hand them the actual sink. You hand them the faucet specs. You sign off on a drawing that specifies every detail, including edge treatment. It comes back to the site. Correctly sized. The sink should go WITH the fabricator for the cut and polish. Faucet holes are usually drilled on your site. .... Any good fabricator knows this, and uses this practice. Was this top TEMPLATED at the site, or were they doing the entire thing from "specs" , including some idiocy like "it's a rectangle" ? My guess is the latter, and not the former. BIG BOO. Did you sign off on a drawing ? My guess is no. Also a big boo.
