Latest Project (pic)

A few of us at work started a block a month project in January that turned into two blocks a month as some wanted to complete the quilt for a Christmas gift. Finally ~ it's finished and going to my mother. I guess I need to adjust the pixels on my camera as the colors are muted looking in the picture.

Wow, clairjo, you've been busy! I love seeing the "starts" of your plants...the sweet peas will be so pretty on that trellis you made & in the galv. tub! Thanks for that idea! Love the wickers! Ohhhhh I love that one too Lyd! I remembered the one in your bedroom and really liked that one also! (you should post a pic of it) I have an old 6 pane window in our bedroom,no glass, no paint and weathered, that just has greenery and fake peach roses twined around it. I have been thinking of this old window in the garage since I painted the kitchen and just didn't know what to do with it. I just did a search for "coffee shop signs" and got some ideas, now *IF* I can find things to do it with is another story....got to keep my eyes peeled.

No, it is fabric that comes very close to matching my living room furniture. I used some really light batting, just to give it some "plump", but thin, so that I can still set things on it. I thought about painting a floral design on the sides, but thought that might end up being too busy. I'm an trying for a very simply, cottage look in my living room. So I opted not to paint it, and just go with the floral fabric.

I am not a fan of the sliding barn door hardware, but given the use of the room and your choices, I probably would have made the same decision. It is a shame you had to notch the woodwork, but like you wrote, that can be repaired -if ever the doors are replaced. You don't have a period decor, so I hardly see why it would be important to install period doors. They look nice. They work well, and your design is transitional, so a little touch of country hardware shouldn't throw it off, and doesn't in my estimation.

Nice color choices.... and the sample blocks are really a good selection.... I need to do something like this... that is add to my VERY LONG to do list is more like it!!

That's once of my favorite color combos -- that light aqua blue ish with maroon and darker blue/teal. LOVELY!

Beautiful Quilt, Love the color choices. I enjoy the variety of sampler quilts as I get bored with the same block so many times. A great gift for your Mother.

Great color choices....your mom will love it. Is that the Cinnamon Batik you used for sashing and border?

I really like your layout of blocks! I never thought about making a wide sashing and cornerstone, but I like the way it looks!! I have about 25 sampler blocks in Christmas colors that are just sitting there because I don't know what to do to put them together!

Thanks all. SharonG it not a batik but I don't recall the fabric name or designer. However I am off to the LSQ tomorrw, I will check the name if they still have some.
