Trash To Treasure

My latest project (pics)

I have been looking for a step ladder forever, and I have found tons at second hand & resale shops, but they were still $8 or much, much more! So, my persistance and thriftiness finally paid off when I found one curbside this past garbage day. Here is a before and after pic. I wanted it to match my living room and now it does!

Here is the before (I loved the "shabby" look, but it was too dark for my room):

Here is the after:

I plan to use it as an "end table" next to my overstuffed chair that has a similar floral pattern!

Thanks again folks, for all your comments. Marylu.....down here, we do not have a problem of our ground freezing, therefore, I just dug out all the grass, tilled the ground and lowered it to the level I wanted, then laid the brick, swept in the mortar mix, wet it down, and Waa Laa....my path. Of course the edging was down with wet mortar mix. :) Here's the latest addition to my walkway. The lower path in the pictures above leads to a parking pad where my DH parks his RV when he brings it home. The ground slopes here, so I leveled the areas, and stepped the path down rather than have it slope. Jan

Ohhhhh I love that one too Lyd! I remembered the one in your bedroom and really liked that one also! (you should post a pic of it) I have an old 6 pane window in our bedroom,no glass, no paint and weathered, that just has greenery and fake peach roses twined around it. I have been thinking of this old window in the garage since I painted the kitchen and just didn't know what to do with it. I just did a search for "coffee shop signs" and got some ideas, now *IF* I can find things to do it with is another story....got to keep my eyes peeled.

Your wallhanging is beautiful. You did a wonderful job and I like that you have used the teapot theme as a wonderful memory of her special teaparty

I would, but I've just too much to do. I started a challenge a couple weeks ago where I'm going through room by room and getting rid of what we no longer need. This week is the pantry, though Monday I got pulled to the drink station cabinet because I found tea in the pantry and when I opened that cupboard, I realized it could use a little moving around of things. It's like dominoes. LOL. If I don't keep up with these things they get out of control, I live with three males, so I do these challenges on a somewhat regular basis. I am planning on turning Wednesdays into "Crafting/Sewing" so maybe next week.

Oh my gosh, what a transformation! It's just adorable. Did you paint the top, or is that fabric, or decoupage, or how did you do it? LOVE the price.

No, it is fabric that comes very close to matching my living room furniture. I used some really light batting, just to give it some "plump", but thin, so that I can still set things on it.

I thought about painting a floral design on the sides, but thought that might end up being too busy. I'm an trying for a very simply, cottage look in my living room. So I opted not to paint it, and just go with the floral fabric.

I wasn't sure about the pink. I was looking for some sort of shade of pink to paint my living room, and I ran across this on a mistint rack, for $4 a gallon. So that made my decision for me! But I ended up loving the color, which was a bonus!

You could make a little pocket for the backside to put magazines in.

How adorable! I found an old wooden ladder when I was helping clean out the house next door. Haven't decided what to do with it yet, but the idea of plant shelves is stuck in my head.
